The American Legion Clubs of Zumbrota Post 183 and Mazeppa Post 588 would like to thank all of their neighbors who attended the 56th annual Palm Sunday roast beef and ham dinner. Attendance was great. A special thanks to all the veterans and auxiliary members who volunteered their time. A thanks goes out to the Boy Scouts along with their leaders and parents for helping us out. Thank you to the American Legion ball players and coaches. Without all of the aforementioned it would not have been as successful as it has been for so many years. Thanks again to all!

Description of Proposed School Construction Project Pine Island Public Schools is proposing a two question bond referendum on May 13, 2014. The first ballot question would authorize $33,250,000 in bonding authority to finance a new PK-4 elementary and additions/remodeling to the existing secondary school site. The second question would authorize $6,500,000 in bonding authority to finance athletic field/track upgrades and a performing arts addi17-1a tion at the secondary school. The passage of the second question is contingent on the passage of the first question. The projects would be scheduled for completion in calendar years 20152017. Independent School District #255 (Pine Island Public Schools) The new elementary is proposed in NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special election has been called and will be response to expected student popula- held in and for Independent School District #255 (Pine Island Public Schools), tion growth and the desire to relocate State of Minnesota, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, for the purpose of voting on the early childhood development programs, following questions: which are currently housed in portable buildings. The new elementary would add 101,000 square feet of building space on a 38 acre site donated to the school district. The total cost of the new elementary is projected to be $22 million. The first ballot question also includes an estimated $6.75 million in additions and remodeling and $4.5 million in deferred maintenance projects at the existing secondary school site. The second ballot question authorizes

the construction of a 600 seat auditorium addition at the secondary school with an estimated cost of $5 million. The remaining $1.5 million would fund a new 9-lane track and other athletic field upgrades. If voters approve the first ballot question, the district plans to put preschool through fourth grade students in the new elementary facility and fifth through 12 grade students in the existing secondary school. If the bond referendum is successful and bonds are sold, the debt service on the bonds will be eligible for debt service equalization under Minn. Stat. 123B.53, Subd. 3, if the bond schedule is approved. The amount of debt service equalization aid, if any, the district receives is determined annually and is dependent upon property wealth, stu-

dent population, and other statutory requirements. The school board believes that these projects are in the best interest of the district. Review and Comment Statement Based upon the departments analysis of the school districts required documentation and other pertinent information from sources of the Minnesota Department of Education, the Commissioner of Education provides a positive review and comment. Additional Information is Available Persons desiring additional information regarding this proposal should contact the school district superintendents office. When the day comes for wedding bells to ring, things hopefully will go without a hitch, which is why many couples today are purchasing wedding insurance. Provided by a growing number of insurance companies, these policies cover losses ranging from bankrupt wedding halls to cancellations forced by unexpected military deployments. Many claims stem from issues with vendors, which account for about one quarter of the claims, primarily due to problems with photographers or videographers. Of course, wedding insurance is also popular among couples concerned about weather disruptions and illness. While change-of-heart coverage is sometimes available, one insurerstipulatesthatthecoverageapplies only if the bride or groom calls off the wedding more than nine months beforehand. Do you know everything you need to know about wedding insurance? We will make sure that insurance will take care of you in the future. Call us at 507732-5693 and let us review your current coverage. Trust our experience to advise you of your insurance needs. We're located at 269 Main Street, Zumbrota where we have the expertise and knowledge needed in today's ever-changing world. We offer superior coverage through financially stable insurance companies.
