1. Students will be taught that the Preamble “comes before” the

Constitution. It explains what the purpose of the Constitution is. The
Constitution will be introduced as the “rules and procedures for the united
States.”
2. Students will be reminded that just as our country has rules, so too,
does the library. Their classrooms and our school have rules and
procedures – just like the Constitution. Introducing the book by
describing how we all have to help each other to make our classroom, our
Library and our world work. In this book let’s see if we can see how the
characters work together.
3. Students will through our webpage visit the constitution and
practice to participate appropriately in a group, help each other, follow
cues (through modeling of the classroom teacher - about when to
participate in discussion.
4. Students take a pretest (found under Explore the Library on the
Home Page) to see how much they remember from Kindergarten about
Library procedures. Students will print out their quiz to practice how to
print.
5. Students will be introduced to the Constitution Website games on
our homepage.
6. Through modeling students will be reminded about how to take
care of a book, how to turn pages, from the top down gently, how to take a
