This study focused on the factors affecting malnutrition among Bajau

children in Brgy. Tambacan, Iligan City. We determined the relationship
between the respondents profile such as age, gender, weight, height and
family daily income from the factors affecting malnutrition of the randomly
selected Bajau children ages from 0-3 years old of Brgy. Tambacan Iligan
City.

This study provided some relevant information for the people to

understand the factors influencing malnutrition among these children. It is
a descriptive co-relational method of research. With the help of an
interpreter we were able to assess the respondents.

Most of them were female accounted to 34 respondents or 56.67% of

the total population, and most of them ages from 2-3 years old which are
approximately 42 respondents or 70% of the population. In terms of weight
most of the respondents’ weight is between 11-20 kilograms which is
53.33% of the population, most common height is between 71 and above
centimeters or 48.33%, and mostly has family daily income of 21-40 pesos

vi
in which there are 21 respondents or 35% from the total number of
respondents.

Base on the result of analysis, one of the important factors that are
highly significant influencing malnutrition were food and cultural
preferences. In terms on the relationship between the profile and
malnutrition; the age, gender, and weight were significant.
