Missing Out
Have you ever missed out on something that you really wanted to do? Maybe you came down
with the flu on the day your class was having a party. Maybe you missed your plane flight. Maybe you couldnt go to a friends birthday party because you had to study for a test! Sometimes we miss out. St. Thomas missed out on something too...but something much bigger than what you have ever missed out on. After Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He came to see His disciples. But Thomas was away and wasnt with the others. He missed this chance to see the Lord. When the other disciples told them, We have seen the Lord! Thomas didnt believe them. Then, eight days later, Christ came to show Thomas that He really had risen from the dead. Here He was, and Thomas was even invited to touch Him and see! Thomas missed out the first time, but God gave him another chance to believe. And when Christ showed Thomas that He had really risen, He also showed us, too!

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

SAINT JASON
What was the top baby name last year?
Do you know? For boys, it was Jacob. For girls, it was Sophia. Back in the 1970s, Jason was the second most popular name in the country. Chances were, if you were born then, a couple of kids in your class were named Jason! But so many names have wonderful stories behind them, and sometimes kids dont even know the story behind their names! We can read about Saint Jasons story in the Bible. Saint Jason was a man who followed St. Paul. He learned about Jesus Christ from him. Once, when St. Paul Saint Jason came to the city of Thessaloniki, Greece, St. Jason had him stay with him.

Can you Say it?

Say Christ is Risen! in Ukrainian! Kristos Voskres! Truly He is risen is: Voistinu voskres!

While they were there, a big fight started in the city. Some people started to be jealous of St. Paul because he was converting so many people. So many people wanted to be Christians! These people got angry and came to St. Jasons house. After all, it was partly St. Jasons faulthe was taking care of St. Paul. They tore up St. Jasons house, and they dragged him to the rulers of the city. Through all this, St. Jason never gave up. He stuck by his teacher, St. Paul. And more importantly, he stuck by the one true God. His strong faith made others want to believe, too!
We celebrate Saint Jasons day on Tuesday, April 29th.
