Aaron Ways In Which Aaron Was A Good Example For Christians

HH: I read about Aaron, Moses brother, in one of the magazines you gave me. I think hes just a coward and complainer. Hes not a good person. I dont like his character. Shalom: I see. Its good that you take some time to read the magazines. Just like you and I, Aaron was an imperfect person. He did make mistakes. But he was a good example for us to imitate. HH: What? Aaron? Good example? What is good about him that we can imitate? Shalom: Well, for one thing, he was definitely a humble person. We can consider what happened when Jehovah gave an assignment to Moses but Moses was reluctant because he couldnt speak fluently. So Jehovah assigned Aaron to serve as Moses mouth or spokesman. Aaron conveyed what Jehovah wanted him to say to the older men of Israel and to Pharaoh of Egypt, the most powerful man on earth at that time. Aaron also had the opportunity to perform the first miracle before Pharaoh. And later, at Moses order, Aaron stretched forth Moses rod and signalled the start of the 10 plagues. In spite of doing all these, Aaron did not become proud of his ability to speak well or of his accomplishments. In fact, this is what Jehovah has to say of Aaron at Exodus 4:16. Could you please read this? HH: (READ) P: Here Jehovah spoke of Aaron as Moses spokesperson. Just as Moses was directed by Jehovah, so Aaron was to be directed by Moses. Aaron continued to receive instructions from Moses and remained obedient to God. Dont you think he was humble? HH: Yes. Wow! Thats not easy. People these days only want to be the first, to be on top of others. They dont like being second, or subordinate. Its amazing Aaron was humble despite what he was able to do. Shalom: Thats true. Later, Jehovah anointed Aaron as high priest. But Aarons faith and obedience to Jehovah was put to the test. HH: What happened?

Shalom: We can read about what happened at Leviticus 10:1-3. Could you read this too? HH: (READ) Shalom: What happened, according to this scripture? HH: It says, Aarons sons Nadab and Abihu offered before Jehovah unauthorized fire, which he had not commanded them to do and they died as a result. Shalom: Yes. How would a parent feel if their children were put to death? HH: They would definitely be very sad and angry at those who did that. Shalom: Yes. But Nadab and Abihu did something that was seriously wrong before Gods eyes. And when God executed them, how did Aaron react? HH: He kept silent. Shalom: Yes. He knew that his sons were wrong and Jehovah rightly took action against them. Aaron remained faithful to Jehovah even under such a challenging test of his faith. HH: That must have been hard for him. I guess he does have good qualities that I overlooked. Thanks for sharing them with me.
