2014 Logo Contest for JOTA-JOTI


Jamboree-On-The-Air and Jamboree-On-The-Internet
ENTRY DEADLINE: 15 MAY 2014
The contest is to design a logo that will be used in official correspondence, on official websites and be the uniform badge for JOTA-JOTI 2014. The purpose of JOTA-JOTI is to enable and encourage Scouts around the world to communicate with one another by means of amateur radio and the internet, providing a fun and educational Scouting experience and promoting their sense of belonging to a worldwide Scout Movement. The logo design should help to convey this. To be accepted the logo must display: The short name of the Event (in English and French): JOTA-JOTI JSLO-JSLI The official titles (in English and French): 57th Jamboree On The Air / 57e Jamboree Sur les Ondes 18th Jamboree On The Internet / 18e Jamboree Sur LInternet The date (in English and French): 18 19 October / octobre 2014 The World Scout Emblem, within these two options only: World Scout Emblem in Purple on White Background or World Scout Emblem in White on Purple Background Size of the logo: Your logo for must fit in to a space of 6cm x 6cm. The size of your file (.png or .jpg) should be below 3Mb. Please refer to designs of previous years to have an idea of how the elements can be displayed. Designs which do not respect the rules will not be considered for the final selection.

Be creative and Original Create your badge design! When your design is ready, simply upload via either www.facebook.com/jota.joti.wosm or www.scout.org You can upload your design anytime until 15 May 2014. Youth members of Scouting are encouraged to enter - when submitting entries youth members should state which youth section they are a member of (i.e. Joey Scout, Rover Scout etc). When uploading an entry you should state which Scout Association you are a member of. Designs which contain copyright images, graphic elements from previous years or artwork coming from clipart will not be considered for the final section. Once you have uploaded your design. You do not have to do anything more, but wait for the results to be announced in June 2014. We will contact you if you are shortlisted. You will need to have an account with Facebook to upload your image to Facebook. You will need an account on scout.org to upload your image to the scout.org website (the create profile link in the top right of the screen, is used to create an account on scout.org). You can send your design by email to jota.joti@scout.org if you are unable to upload the image to either Facebook or scout.org

Create the Buzz Share your design uploaded on the Facebook or scout.org with your friends and acquaintances and ask them to like your design, this voting option will be open until 1 June 2014. Please note that the number of likes on Facebook and scout.org WILL NOT determine the winner of the contest but can influence the decision by showing the popularity to the Jury members who will make an independent decision. Short List A short list of 10 designs will be chosen from the contest entries by a selection committee and presented to the jury. Designs to be included in the short list will be chosen based on the following: Compliance with the general rules mentioned here Adherence to technical constraints specified under the rules Relevance to theme Number of likes on Facebook or scout.org The short list will be publicly announced soon after the voting period ends. Every designer selected in the short list will be contacted by the World Scout Bureau, asking them to submit the high resolution design and accept copyright conditions for the artwork, to be used by World Scouting. The winner The winner will be chosen from the short list by members of the jury based on the following criteria: Composition, Functionality, Creativity, Technique, Originality, Visual appeal and Overall impression About the Jury The jury will be composed of members of the World JOTA-JOTI Team and professionals from World Scouting. The winner will be announced in June 2014. The World Scout Bureaus Graphic designers will help the winner to adapt the design and adjust the logo for the final production of the JOTA-JOTI badges. Prizes The winning entry will be the official 2014 logo for JOTA-JOTI, and will be used on badges and other merchandise promoting the event. The winner will receive a framed certificate acknowledging their design, and a selection of merchandise from World Scout Shops Limited. Shortlisted designers will receive a certificate, and some JOTA-JOTI merchandise from World Scout Shops Limited.
