A living forest experience you will never forget


onkeyland Primate Sanctuary is the worlds rst multi species, free roaming primate sanctuary providing ex-captive primates with a healthier, more natural life. Around 500 apes, monkeys and lemurs live at Monkeyland including gibbons, langurs, saki, capuchin, squirrel, vervet, howler and spider monkeys along with black and white ruffed and ring-tailed lemurs in 12 hectares of pristine indigenous forest. Our experienced and knowledgeable multilingual rangers guide one hour tours through the forest where they will point out, identify and explain the many wonders of the forest, from the rich diversity of bird life to the intricate workings of the forest itself. The emphasis however is on searching for the primates and the reward is to see the various species, living as they were meant to, free and in a natural habitat. Guests leave our sanctuary with a greater understanding of the primates of the world and the threats that they face in the wild. Monkeyland is the only Fairtrade accredited primate sanctuary in South Africa

Welcome to Birds of Eden


A living forest experience you will never forget
irds of Eden is the largest single dome free ight aviary in the world. The sanctuary encompasses an area of over 2 hectares of natural forest and waterways, criss-crossed by some 1.2km of walkways. Visitors here are welcome to explore at their own pace with the aid of the Birds of Eden specialised guidebook or with one of our experienced guides. Birds of Eden is home to some 3500 birds comprising of almost 220 species all of whom have the freedom to y, forage and swim. You will nd a vast diversity of species including parrots, cranes, amingos, starlings, pheasants, toucans, hornbills plus of course Africas famous turacos including the enigmatic Knysna Lourie. Along with the birds, visitors can also expect to see giant fruit bats, miniture monkeys and the smallest antelope in South Africa, the Blue Duiker. Birds of Eden is the only Fairtrade accredited bird sanctuary in South Africa

Welcome to Jukani
Where big cats are at home
ukani Wildlife Sanctuary is home to rescued apex predators including all of the big cats such as jaguars, lions, tigers and leopards. Each species is housed in large natural enclosures in an area covering 17 hectares of indigenous forest and grassland. A visit to Jukani is a unique experience with the primary focus being on education and conservation, where the animals needs are put rst and foremost. The white lions and tigers, like most of the other animals, have been rescued from human exploitation. They do not breed and will never be used for hunting in any form, here they will live out the rest of their lives in comfort and safety. Along with the big cats, Jukani is also home to cheetah, cougar, caracal, serval, hyena, jackal, African painted dog, honey badger, zorilla and raccoon. In the adjoining grasslands, zebra and springbok graze. Tours led by our experienced and knowledgeable rangers last approximately

one hour. Jukani also boasts a large vivarium where snakes from around the world can be viewed.

Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani are open 8.00am - 5.00pm 7 days a week 365 days a year. All three sanctuaries are wheelchair and stroller friendly and each has a curio store and cafe.
