SCENARIO
Hand washing lesson plan for preschoolers
I am planning to do a hand washing lesson plan for preschooler. In preschool, teacher needs to teach children about how to built a healthy lifestyle and how to keep himself or herself clean. Direct contact is the most normal way for the germ to spread; so washing hands properly is an effective way for children to get away form infectious diseases. Hand washing is the easiest and valises way to protect children from get down infectious diseases and keep early childhood environment safe.

OBJECTIVE
Knowing about germs
Children should know that even though the germs are can not be seen by our eyes, it still exit in the world and can get spread easily by touching or sneezing and get people sick.

Understand that cleanliness is important to health

What children should understand after this class is that germ loves to live in the dirty places, so cleaning could destroy the habitat for germ to survive.

Knowing how to wash their hands properly

Children will learn how to wash their hands properly in order to kill most of the germs on their hands.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AND RESOURCES

Group activity
I would let them talk about what are germs in their mind. I would also provide some coloring picture and puzzle games about hand washing, too.

Face to face communication

I want them to discuss with their partner about how and when they wash hands usually.

Spread sheet
I would use spreadsheet to check participation of student like answering my questions and ask questions.

TECHNOLOGY REQUIRED
For me, I need to have a computer and a projector to show children the video and the presentation I made for this lesson. Children do not need to use computer on their own in this lesson because most of the activities are hands on activities and in person communications.

ENGAGING ACTIVITIES AND INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES

In the beginning of class, I would ask children to tell what is the germ in their mind, and a start to write their answers on the board and discuss the answers with them. After the discussion, I will show them a video that illustrate the concept of the germ to help them know that germ is everywhere although they can not see it, and germ can cause serious disease. Showing them video can help them to better understand the concept. And then I would do a hands on activity to help them better understand the germ are exist. I would use a spread bottle of purple color water. And I spread the purple water on one childs hands and told them that the purple color dots are like the germs if we color it. And I would let the child touch another child or a stuff around him, the child or stuff that had been touched will have some purple color on it, so they would understand that touching can spread the germs. And then I would told that we can get rid of germs by washing hands before and after playing, go to the bathroom and eating. I would also told them how to wash the hands effectively by show them how to wash the purple color off.

ASSESSMENT
And would ask them some questions before and after the activities to see weather they starting to understand or have any progress about the knowing the concept. I would also know what they have learn by sharing with the friends how dont know the concept.

In fact, germs are so tiny that you need to use a microscope to see them. When they get in our bodies, we dont know that hit us until we have symptoms that say weve been attacked!
