Hebrews 1:1-3 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners, spake in times past unto the fathers

by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the e press image of his person and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the !a"esty on high# 3:1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly $alling $onsider the %postle and High &riest of our profession, 'hrist (esus) *:1-1+ ,or every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sa$rifi$es for sins; Who $an have $ompassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is $ompassed with infirmity) %nd by reason hereof he ought, as for the people so also for himself, to offer for sins) %nd no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is $alled of God, as was %aron) -o also 'hrist glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, .hou are my -on, to day have / begotten thee) %s he saith also in another pla$e, .hou art a priest for ever after the order of !el$hisede$) Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and suppli$ations with strong $rying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; .hough he were a -on, yet learned he obedien$e by the things whi$h he suffered; %nd being made perfe$t, he be$ame the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 'alled of God, an high priest after the order of !el$hisede$) 0:1-3,1-23 ,or this !el$hisede$, king of -alem, priest of the most high God, who met %braham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; .o whom also %braham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation 4ing of righteousness, and after that also 4ing of -alem, whi$h is, 4ing of pea$e; %nd as / may so say, 5evi also, who re$eiveth tithes, payed tithes in %braham) ,or he was yet in the loins of his father, when !el$hisede$ met him) /f therefore perfe$tion were by the 5eviti$al priesthood, 6for under it the people re$eived the law,7 what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of !el$hisede$, and not be $alled after the order of %aron8 ,or the priesthood being $hanged, there is made of ne$essity a $hange also of the law) ,or he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe of whi$h no man gave attendan$e at the altar) ,or it is evident that our 5ord sprang out of (uda; of whi$h tribe !oses spake nothing $on$erning priesthood) %nd it is yet far more evident; for that after the similitude of !el$hisede$ there ariseth another priest, Who is made not after the law of a $arnal $ommandment, but after the power of an endless life) ,or he testifieth, thou art a priest for ever after the order of !el$hisede$) ,or there is verily a disannulling of the $ommandment going

before the weakness and unprofitableness thereof) ,or the law made nothing perfe$t, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the whi$h we draw nigh unto God) %nd inasmu$h as not without an oath he was made priest; 6,or those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, the 5ord sware and will not repent, .hou art a priest for ever after the order of !el$hisede$, 9y so mu$h was (esus made a surety of a better testament) %nd they truly were many priests, be$ause they were not suffered to $ontinue by reason of death; 9ut this man, be$ause he $ontinueth ever, hath an un$hangeable priesthood) Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that $ome unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make inter$ession for them) ,or su$h an high priest be$ame us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high preists, to offer up sa$rifri$e, first for his own sins, and then for the people:s for this he did on$e, when he offered up himself) ,or the law maketh men high priest whi$h have infirmity; but the word of the oath, whi$h was sin$e the law, maketh the -on, who is $onse$rated for evermore) 3:3-13 ,or finding fault with them, he saith, 9ehold, the days $ome, saith the 5ord, when / will make a new $ovenant with the house of /srael and with the house of (udah: ;ot a$$ording to the $ovenant that / made with their fathers in the day when / took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of <gypt: be$ause they $ontinued not in my $ovenant, and / regarded them not, saith the 5ord) ,or this is the $ovenant that / will make with the house of /srael after those days, saith the 5ord; / will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and / will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: %nd they shall not tea$h every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 4now the 5ord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest) ,or / will be mer$iful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their ini=uities will / remember no more) /n that he saith, % new $ovenant, he hath made the first old) ;ow that whi$h de$ayeth and wa eth old is ready to vanish away) !atthew 11: 0,1+-1> %nd as they departed, (esus began to say unto the multitudes $on$erning (ohn, what went ye out into the wilderness to see8 % reed shaken with the wind8 ,or this is he, of whom it is written 9ehold, / send my messenger before thy fa$e, whi$h shall prepare they way before thee) ?erily / say unto you, %mong them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than (ohn the 9aptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he) %nd from the days of (ohn the 9aptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violen$e, and the violent take it by for$e) ,or all the prophets and the law prophesied until (ohn) %nd if ye will re$eive it, this is <lias, whi$h was for to $ome)
