Reflections Junia Marin ; 96734542 This group assignment provided me with my first experience of working with team members,

whom I have never met. This group project afforded the opportunity to work with others who all were located across a wide geographical region in four different islands: Anguilla, Barbados, Tobago and myself in Trinidad. I even had to do a net quest about Anguilla since I knew little about the home of one of my colleagues. We had all individually developed different Instructional Models because of our diverse work environments. Yet upon closer examination the differently named phases contained many

similar elements in each design. The similarities were evident since we all had implemented a systematic design to our individual models. It was quite interesting to read the other three models and how they would be implemented within their environments. It made me wonder about the multitude of diverse Instructional Models and environments that would have been presented by all the students. perhaps they could be collated to be used in the future for case studies. Developing the TKMJ Consolidated Instructional Model had its challenges. These were mainly synchronising the Skype meetings at accommodate all four of us as well as having proper internet connectivity during all the sessions. Putting the project together proved a challenge also, since all four of us had different writing styles, formatting styles and different interpretations of our assigned sections. There were disagreements on what the focus of the project should be as each of us had our preconceived notions about what we should emphasize. The preparation for the presentation provided us with quite a challenge as we were unsure of what aspects of our work we should present to the class. We approached the dreaded day with

some trepidation as we had fears that we either had prepared too much information or had prepared too little. At the last stage we decided to go ahead with more than we planned, since we felt it would have been more demoralizing to have prepared too little. The experience turned out rather interesting and I am sure that we are all equipped for any such endeavours in future courses. Eventually, after much revisions, the final product was produced. we all had to compromise as some of our individual work had to be deleted in the interest of streamlining the entire project. Humility was indeed a factor as revisions had to be made whenever the acceptable standard of the group was not forthcoming. Sometimes we had to abandon the ideological path we had chosen, and begin a new one. This activity has provided me with friends that I can depend upon. I had initially been a member of another group, however, because of certain semantics I had to belatedly added to the already established TKM Ed Designers. I must confess that I was shown no animosity, but was welcomed by the existing members of this group. Any future group assignments would be much easier as I now have formed a good working friendship with my group mates. Instructional Design has turned out to be extremely interesting. I think that the benefits of utilizing this systematic design model within organizations, should be publicized more.
