Our Approach

The Reflections Program is a comprehensive approach to Jail Prevention, Intervention and Reentry. The focus is to change the dysfunctional thinking that may be a leading factor in behaviors and actions leading to incarceration. We are happy to announce that we are capable of serving both our English and Spanish speaking participants.

LET US HELP YOU REACH YOUR POINT OF CHANGE

Our Founder
Employment and housing are a top priority as it relates to returning citizens but after working with thousands of inmates since, 1998 I can tell you that there is only one thing that will keep people out of jails and prisons and that is having a made up mind not to break the law.

Application & Utilization

1. Community Service 2. Satisfy commitments such as court ordered anger management, one on one therapy, family therapy (LSW), parenting/ fatherhood, etc. 3. Voluntary Tracking is a recidivism reduction tool which can be used between verdict and sentencing. It allows the participants an opportunity to be positively engaged until sentencing. All progress is documented and available to any concerned parties. 4. Work Release: Court ordered Inmates or inmates authorized by a correctional facility would benefit from the vocational and occupational programs. Our facility is equipped with the latest technological, audio and visual equipment as well as other amenities conducive to learning.

The Reflections program targets the elementary applications of life such as obeying authority, expressing kindness, understanding appropriate behavior, proper relationships and ongoing education/skill building. There is no charge for our services so please sign up today.
Pastor John Lewis

In April 2012 the ministry respectfully ended its contract with the Charles County Detention Center in order to assist the entire Southern Maryland Region with its ever growing needs of reentry services. We remain grateful to the Charles County Sheriffs Office for its initial and ongoing support of Point of Change and we continue to enjoy a partnership as we help those in need.

Point of Change Jail and Street Ministry Inc., was founded in 2008 and was contracted by the Charles and Calvert Counties Sheriffs Office to serve both Correctional facilities as a provider for Chaplaincy, Life Skills and Community Integration. The ministry has been instrumental in the collaboration and launching of three jail-based reentry programs and one community based program called The Reflection Prevention, Intervention and Reentry Program. As of 2013 we have proudly served over 30,000 inmates and returning citizens at zero to very little cost to the taxpayer.
