January Class Projects

Below is a list of the class projects we will be doing during the month of January. All projects will be completed in class and all supplies will be provided by me. January 6th-7th- Cattle Drive project: groups will create map of the United States and located all cattle trails we have discussed. Each group will then each pick a certain trail and create a brochure telling why cowboys should travel down the particular trail the group picked trail. January 14th-15th- Students will get into groups and create a biography poster about the life and works of: The Wright brothers, George Washington Carver, Alexander Graham Bell, or Thomas Edison. January 27th-28th- Each student will select a country from a list of countries, and then present to the class what made citizens of their selected country immigrate to the US during the early 20th century. Then the student will shade a map of the United States to show where majority of the people from the selected country settled when they arrived in America.

At the end of the month of April, Burton Elementary will be taking the CRCT, which is a standardized test that every student grades 1-8 in the state of Georgia take. I have included in this newsletter a hyperlink that will take you to a CRCT tips website. These tips not only apply to the CRCT but to all tests in this class. I would like for you, the parent, to sit down and review these tips with your child.

I have included another hyperlink to a really fun at home craft. When people think of winter they usually think of snow, and living in South Georgia snow is a very rare event. This hyperlink is a recipe for at home snow. This activity is completely optional.
