Griffins Submission Academy white to blue belt Curriculum

The information below gives a basic overview of the techniques that a person at a blue belt level should know. Many of these moves have several variations and it is okay if you utilize a variation different than the ones I demonstrate in class as everyone has different skill set, but you must have a strong understanding of the technique you perform if it differs from what I have demonstrated in class. Below is only an overview, and many of you actually know much more than what is shown below. This overview only covers the technical aspect of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu training, which is approx. 50% of rank determination. The other 50% of rank determination is based on your ability in live grappling against a resisting opponent. This determination goes for any rank and it is what makes Brazilian Jiu-jitsu unique amongst the majority of other martial arts. A white belt that is ready for blue belt, must demonstrate the ability to compete or hold their own with other white belts of similar size and athletic ability. Also they must be able to compete or hold their own with a blue belt of similar size and athletic ability. I would suggest using this as an outline for your training, fill in moves that you favor on top of the moves below, this eventually will become your own personal curriculum. This curriculum is ever changing as this just outlines basic details.
