DIRECT AND INDIRECT SPEECH

Direct and Indirect Spech , which we are also familiar with another term , namely Reported Spech . Direct Spect is a sentence spoken directly by the speaker and if written sentences will be quoted . While Indirect Spech is the phrase that we report to others indirectly and without any commas .Example : Reporting verb: Tono says, Reported words Im very god at English Tense should be noted in this pattern are: Direct Spech: Simple Present Tense Present Continuous Tense Present Perfect Tense Present Perfect Continuous Tense Simple Past Tense Simple Future Tense Future Continouos Tense Conditonal Indirect Spech: Simple Past Tense Past Continuous Tense Past Perfect Tense Past Perfect Continuous Tense Past Perfect Tense Past Future Tense/Conditonal Past Future Continuous Tense (Conditonal Continuous) Conditonal

If reported spech related to general truths or facts that have become habits, or the simple present indefinite present in spech reported not changed to appropriate in the past tense, but remain exactly as they are, Example : He said, The sun rises in the east He said that he sun rises in the east. The characteristics of writing direct speech : - Direct Speech is always enclosed in quotation marks and capital letters always begin sentences .

- A colon ( : ) or commas ( , ) is placed before the Direct Speech if conjunctive / reporter (reporting verb ) it is in the front . - A comma ( , ) must be placed after the Direct Speech if conjunctive placed after Direct His speech . - Punctuation marks like exclamation mark ( ! ) , Question mark ( ? ) That indicates the type of sentence did not experience changes . example : - She screamed : "Do not open the door ! " - My mother says to my sister , " Clean your bedroom now ! " - "What are you doing ? " She asked me . Description : - She screamed , My mother says to my sister , and She asked me is conjunctive / reporter (reporting verb ) . - "Do not open the door " , " Clean your bedroom ! " , And "What are you doing " is a direct sentence ( Direct Speech ) B. Indirect Speech Indirect Speech ( indirect sentences ) was used to form sentences retelling discussion / opinion of someone . To change the sentence directly ( Direct Speech ) into sentences indirectly ( Indirect Speech ) should customize the type of sentence . 1 . Sentence Command ( Imperative Sentence ) example : - Direct Speech : She told me , " Clean the room ! " Indirect Speech : She told me to clean the room . - Direct Speech : My father Asks me , " Do not make so much noise ! " Indirect Speech : My father Asks me not to the make so much noise . 2 . Sentence Stories ( Declarative Sentence )

example : - Direct Speech : She told me , " I am fine . " Indirect Speech : She told me that she was fine . - Direct Speech : He says , " My computer can not work well . " Indirect Speech : He says that his computer can not work well . 3 . Sentence Questions ( interrogative Sentence ) a. Yes / No Question ( Sentence question that requires an answer Yes or No. . ) - Direct Speech : She asked me , " Are you sure? " Indirect Speech : She asked me if I was sure . She asked me Whether I was sure . - Direct Speech : My mother says , " Do you know my purse ? " Indirect Speech : My mother says if I know her purse . My mother says I know Whether her purse .
