It will focus on the major conferences that took place between the Allied powers at the end of World War II. This set of controlled notes will give you direction and guidelines on how to use the interactive maps. Click on Hyperlink Click on the geographical region titled Africa & Europe. Click on the image titled The Yalta Conference Once the site is up and running, answer the following questions for each section.

1. Click on the picture titled Conference Leader, below list the three leaders and their countries that they represented. Using your prior knowledge state in bullet points how WWII affected each of those countries. Underline the country that sacrificed the most during the war.

2. Click on the image titled Plans For Germany. Draw and label Churchills plan for German and FDRS plans for Germany. On Map # 1 draw and color Churchils plans as shown in the website. Map # 2 color and draw FDRs original plan for Germany Map # 1 Churchills Plan

Read the narrative found on the left side of the website to answer the following three questions. 3. What was the overall objective of the Yalta Conference? Below list two solutions or goals that were presented at the meeting (make sure you list which leader was behind your selected example).

4. What was the final agreement the three leaders came up with when deciding on the division of Germany? Below sketch and label the border agreed upon at the Yalta conference.

5. Which Country did Stalin feel should be excluded from the division of Germany? Do you believe Stalins concerns were justified given the sacrifices Russia made during the war?

On the bottom left corner of the website, click the video link Stalin Distrust of West. Answer the following questions with the video. (1) List the three major leaders that met at the Potsdam Conference.

(2) Give an example of how Stalins distrust for the West was growing

(3) How did the dynamic change between the big three in comparison to the Yalta Conference?

2. In the upper right corner of the site, click on the link titled Uneasy Allies. Briefly skim through the political cartoons and pictures. Using your prior knowledge and the information from the site, select the image that best represents either the objectives of Yalata and Potsdam conference or the growing tension between USSR and the West. Copy and Paste your selected media below and give a 2-3 sentences response on why you chose the image.

3. In the same upper right hand corner, click on the link Potsdam Conference. Read the first two pages of the link and answer the following questions. (1) What was the primary objective of the Potsdam Conferences?

(2) What big news did newly President Truman have to share with conference leader and how did it change the dynamics of the meeting?

(3) What was the justification for sparing the life of Emperor Hirohito

4. On the top tool bar, clink on the Maps link. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and study the map titled Soviet influence in Post War Europe. (1) Identify three countries that turned to Communism in post WWII Europe. (2) Define the term Iron Curtain

End of Class discussion reflect of the proverb to the victor go the spoils and how it applies to the Potsdam and Yalta Conference. Do you believe that each of the victors from WWII benefited equally?
