WHAT?

APPROACHES TO LEARNING (ATL) ACROSS THE CONTINUUM

Through approaches to learning in IB programmes, students develop skills that have relevance across the curriculum that help them learn how to learn
Communication Social Self management Research Thinking

ATL STRUCTURE

STRUCTURE

Task: Match the clusters to the categories

In your small groups, discuss the importance of each category in your subject area

SELECTING ATL
In order to develop ATL skills that facilitate effective and efficient learning, students need models, clear expectations.and multiple opportunities to practice. Teachers should provide students with regular, specific feedback on the development of ATL skills through learning engagements and that provide formative assessment . Am I actively teaching this skill? Am I contributing to the development of the learner in this area? Am I providing students with opportunities to practice this skill?
