The productivity of your wind turbines

OneProd Wind System

Secure the productivity of your wind farm with condition monitoring

An expanding market focused on performance

Wind energy which has long been considered only as a supplemental source can no longer be ignored, as one must meet the increasing demand for energy and protect the environment at the same time. Manufacturers have adapted to this demand by developing ever more powerful machines that can produce several MW to equip on-shore and off-shore wind farms. Such wind farms are often remote and challenging to access for normal maintenance operations adding to the complexity of their operation. For their part, operation managers are concerned with returns on their investment and keep a watchful eye on the productivity of their facilities. The implementation of a rigorous condition monitoring program has then become a strategic action to secure both the asset and its productivity.

Prvisions

'Knowing' and 'Predicting' have become integral parts of wind farms performance.

The wind turbine:

unconventional mechanics
Wind turbines kinematics are complex and very different to conventional power generating machinery. It combines slow rotation speeds on the rotor side and fast rotation speeds on the generator side, which usually induces using a speedmultiplier gearbox. Furthermore, uncertainties of wind speed and directions lead to large variations of the rotation speeds and power, inducing high strain on mechanical parts and supporting structures. These persistent non-stationary conditions make conventional vibration analysis techniques virtually inefficient. Indeed, effective monitoring of reliability parameters requires strict determination of the operating conditions and accurate correlation between the two. A new dedicated approach is hence necessary.

A tailored solution
built by experience
01dB-Metravib has more than 20 years of experience in monitoring non stationary rotating machinery in power generation, paper, steel and mining industries. OneProd Wind System is the outcome of this experience designed to provide simple and robust solution to reliably detect early stages of mechanical and electrical faults on any part of the wind turbine system. OneProd Wind System not only includes innovative and proven technologies but, above all, dedicated analysis algorithms that allow for monitoring the different elements of the wind turbine. The main bearing of the turbine at very low speeds, the speedmultiplier gearbox as well as the generator are now monitored with an unrivalled reliability level.
