USING ICT TO ENCOURAGE INDEPENDENT LEARNING

Session 2

PREVIOUSLY We started new websites We created home pages Some of us created other pages or blogs We uploaded content, such as a document or a picture Some of us created a blog post

SINCE THEN YOU HAVE Uploaded coursework, so pupils can work INDEPENDENTLY Put notices on about competitions Not done much because of lack of time etc! Asked some good questions about what to upload and how to do that

WHAT YOUVE STRUGGLED WITH

1. Finding time to attend to your fledgling website Treat it like a garden weed it/water it a few minutes each day!

2. Having the confidence to tinker for fear of what might happen! If you dont know what something does, drag it onto your website, have a go and if you dont want it, delete it. Turns out you can delete pages (!), so check and double check before you click OK/publish.

WHAT YOUVE STRUGGLED WITH (CONTD)

3. Uploading more interesting resources including videos etc.
Pro can upload an HD video and audio Free can upload a YouTube video 2 ways
1. media YouTube 2. embed code

4. Uploading documents that pupils can reply to or comment on

You could do several things:
RSVP form, if you want to put a list of names up for a trip/sporting event and you need them to confirm Forum, if you want to ask a question that you want pupils to comment on (Like a chatroom) Blog post, where pupils can comment on what youve posted. See my example: http://wylieweb.weebly.com/8y3-blog.html
