Dance Research Journal Submission Guidelines ARTICLES: Manuscripts should be submitted to the DRJ Editor.

DRJ is a refereed journal, using a blind review process. Article manuscripts must be accompanied by written assurance that they have not been published, submitted, or accepted for publication elsewhere. hey will not be returned unless accompanied by return postage. Manuscripts should contribute original material. hey may be discussions of historical or contemporary dance, theory and methods, critical syntheses, or evaluation of the state of !nowledge or methods in the different disciplines of dance research. he Editor and at least two outside readers evaluate articles. he review process is completed as "uic!ly as possible, and every attempt is made to notify authors regarding acceptance within three months. he Editor reserves the right to reject or return for revision any material on the grounds of inappropriate subject matter, "uality, or length. (otes and bibliographies, should follow the )hicago Manual of *tyle +,th ed. -author$date citation system. and appro/imately 0,111 words not including notes and bibliography. %lease consult the Editorial #ffice for a printed list of guidelines. 2llustrative materials, such as tables, maps, and graphic notation should be done in blac! in! and should be camera$ready copy. %hotographs should have a glossy finish, and authors must obtain permission to publish them if ta!en by individuals other than themselves. All manuscripts must be accompanied by an abstract of 31 to +11 words and biographical information of eight to ten lines that includes current evidence of e/pertise in the topic of the article. RE1IE2S: 4oo! and media reviews are assigned by the Reviews Editor, but individuals wishing to review a particular boo! may submit an in"uiry to the Reviews Editor. Reviews in the current issue are the best guide to correct format. he heading should include name of author-s. or editor-s., boo! title -italici5ed., place of publication, name of publisher, year of publication, number of pages, cloth or paperbound, and price. Reviews should be scholarly in orientation, and appro/imately +611 to +311 words in length. Reports should include what,

where, when, who, and how, and should specify the relevance of the activity to dance research. Related literature should be cited, if relevant. FI+AL MA+%SCRI#T A##R81AL: Authors of articles will be consulted before finali5ation of editorial decisions. %age proofs will be sent during the printing process and should be e/amined by authors and returned within the specified time. C8#7RIG9T: DRJ publishes previously unpublished original research. )#RD copyrights each issue of the journal as a collective wor!7 individual authors retain rights to their individual wor!s. Authors of individual wor!s published in the )#RD Dance Research Journal have the right to republish their own wor! in whole or in part, and in identical or modified form. As the original publisher, )#RD re"uests a letter to the )hair of the )#RD Editorial 4oard notifying of any republication.
