Problem !
Uncontrolled proliferation of information causes chaos.

1.

Even if we have software that help us searching and storing information we still have a crucial need to make sense of their relationships. Instead of dreaming about a super mind lets consider another path Genetics

The Knowledge DNA

How The Knowledge DNA works!

A given information item (video, document, website, profile) is represented by a vector containing a list of attributes (analogous to trait-determining genes for organisms in the field of genetics). Each attribute (gene) corresponds to a keyword or key-phrase screened by a keyword retrieval algorithm based on a our Knowledge classification system or ontology, The knowledge DNA. Genes consist in characteristics of the information item . For example, information visualization (gene a) and graph theory (gene b) are characteristics of infovis conference (item 1) . The identification of a gene is based on a process of selections and interpolations of information taken from different domains and classification systems ( Fig 1 and Fig 2). A group of genes determines a knowledge genre (KG), such as computer science KG have 150 genes, history KG have 350, and art KG have approximately 400. Other Knowledge genres, such as business and literature have 300500 genes. The system depends on a sufficient number of genes and genres appropriate for each particular item to render useful results.

Given the vector of one or more items selected by the users and a selection of web domains a list of other similar items is constructed using a distance function by the system (Fig 3).

06 September 2011 MIT Neurotechnology Ventures ~ Minds+Money

My MIT colleague Ed Boyden and I (with Rutledge Ellis-Behnke in Germany) are again hosting our Neurotechnology Ventures class this Fall at the Media Lab starting Thursday afternoon 8 September 2011 from 2-4pm. This course is all about envisioning, planning, and building startups (both entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial) to bring neuroengineering innovations to the world.
