M-SAND

M-Sand is manufactured sand, obtained from specific hard rock (granite) using the state-of-the-art International technology. Its numerous advantages over river sand have made it a favorite and a "Must-to- se" !ith "uality conscious builders. M-Sand is cubical in shape and is manufactured using international technology like #igh $arbon steel hit rock and then %&$' &( %&$' process !hich is synonymous to that of natural process undergoing in river sand information )oabs is al!ays been the first to introduce these technological bliss for the good use of the construction industry in South India. In line !ith the manufacture of sand in bulk "uantity, have procured the !orld*s best and state of the art e"uipments and installed them at various safe stations in 'erala complying !ith every scientific parameters set for producing Manufactured Sand(M-Sand). Modern and imported machines +SI(+ertical Shaft Impact) are used to produce M-Sand, ensuring to IS ,-, .&(/II. 0or "uality control, has engaged in a scientific tie-up !ith the %(1 lab and department heads of 2rivandrum /ngineering $ollege !ho rigorously and constantly monitor our production at every stage.

2his e3ceptional kind of technical support al!ays assures us to maintain consistency in "uality as !ell as to upgrade our technology from time to time. 2he particle shape of the aggregates is very important for making concretes. It is a !ell kno!n fact that the sand having cubical particles !ith grounded edges gives higher tensile strength and compression strength to the concrete. 2he grains should be of durable material and the si4e of the grains must be such that it should give minimum voids. 2he presence of clay and slit is avoided since it retards the setting of the cement and making mortar. /3periments sho!n that considerable variations in strength of mortar may occur o!ing to form and variety of the sand particle. 2he strength of mortar may differ by about 567 of average. It is not possible in river sand that all particles should be of higher strength. 2his can be achieved only by making sand !ith the help of machines. In machine-made sand, !e can use the ra! material of higher strength. 2he manufactured sand produced by proper machines can be better substitute to river sand. 2here is discrepancy in the river sand for t!o loads lifted from same source. #ence to achieve consistent "uality, each truck of

sand should be tested. Moreover the sand has to be sieved to remove stones, slit and clay. In routine average !astage of sieving are about ,57 and e3tra labour cost involved. 8hereas M-Sand is ready-to-use-sand !ith no !astage since it do not have organic impurities. 2he superior shape and gradation of M-Sand ensures high strength concrete !ith significant savings in cement. ADVANTAGES:

M-Sand has optimum initial and final setting time as !ell as e3cellent fineness !hich !ill help to overcome the deficiencies of concrete such as segregation, bleeding, honeycombing, voids and capillary. 0) E"#n#)y sage of M-Sand can drastically reduce the cost since like river sand, it does not contain impurities and !astage is (I9. In International $onstruction Scenario, no river sand is used at all, only sand is manufactured and used, !hich gives superior strength and its cubical shape ensures significant reduction in the cement used in the concrete

1) E"#-2riendly M-Sand is the only alternative to river sand. 1redging of river beds to get river sand !ill lead to environmental disaster like ground !ater depletion, !ater scarcity, threat to the safety of bridges, dams etc. :eside !ith the ;overnment contemplating ban on dredging of %iver beds to "uarry river sand, as part of the gro!ing concern for environment protection, M-Sand !ill be the only available option. COMPARSION: 2he natural river sand !as the cheapest resources of sand. #o!ever the e3cessive mining of rive bed to meet the increasing demand for sand in construction industry has lead to the ecological imbalance in the state. (o! the sand available in the riverbed is very coarse and contains very high percentage of silt and clay. 2he silt and the clay presence in the sand reduce the strength of the concrete and holds dampness. 2he natural river sand is the product of sedimentation. mica, coal, fossils and other organic impurities are present in the river sand above certain percentage !hich make the sand useless for concrete !ork. <cute shortage and high price for river sand has lead to the adulteration of sand !ith salty sea sand !hich has raised serious concern among builders.
