I. Assessment Requirements

In this assignment, you are expected to produce a website where visitors would be able to
access information about latest film and movies and if possible they should be given the
option to download/purchase. Your website must include the following pages.

1. Home (index.html)
2. An XML page representing some data.
3. A query or order form with JavaScript validation.
4. A slide show with some images.
5. A mobile Web App. (link to download)
6. Report (report.html)

Each page should contain:

a header which should contain an image and a title
a header navigation bar containing navigation menu links,
a footer containing some centred text your name and copyright information,
a right hand bar containing some featured properties or some advertising,
a content page.

The following schematic diagram illustrates different areas of your web site.

All pages should be written in html/xml and use style sheets for styling.

Details of films and movies are stored in an XML file. You should use XSLT to display your
data in the content section.

A slide show should be used to display a series of images either related to a specific
film/movie or some featured applications and if possible provide some details about them.

Use jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap to create a mobile web application. Provide some details
and provide the link to download this application.

You must also write a brief report (minimum 500 words, maximum 5000 words) that
explains the techniques that you used in building this site so that any important features
is not missed when your assignment is marked. This should be in the form of a simple list
with a few comments. It is not expected to write a detailed recipe of how to build your
web sites with screen shots etc.

The entire site must be submitted by following the network hand in instruction available

Notes:

Email submissions are not accepted. For a successful submission, you must follow
the online submission instruction completely.
Your files must be available on our local server (JAWA) and files on students
personal computer or servers outside the university network will not be accepted.
The report is part of your web site and it should be written in HTML. Please DONT
use Word or PDF document as an attachment or link to the web site.
You should NOT use frame/frameset anywhere in your design.
You should NOT use flash movies in your website. Flash buttons should not be used
either.
Pages containing slide show should be developed using JavaScript and DOM.
For a better design of your site, you can use html5, CSS3 and jQuery. However,
they should be check with browsers available in the universitys computer rooms.
Using Macromedia Spray is allowed.
You can work with editor of your choice to develop your site.
For images, please use online resources to download images of your choice. You
are not required to seek the owners permission (the content of your site should
not be published outside the university network).

Late submission of assessed coursework will not be tolerated. Late work will need to be
submitted complete with an extenuating circumstance sheet and must be discussed with
lab tutor prior to the deadline. Any work submitted late (maximum seven days) without
good cause can only achieve a maximum score of 40%. Work submitted over seven days
late may not be marked at all and result in a score of 0%.

Your completed site should be demonstrated to your lab tutor and be prepared to talk
about your site functionality and implementation. Not being able to demonstrate that the
submitted coursework is your own work, this could result in failing this module even if the
submitted work is acceptable on its own.

II. Assessment Criteria

With respect to different pages to be included in your submission, the following will be
assessed:

- Overall look of the finished web site (20%):
- XML Page (20%):
- Query or Order Form and Validation (10%):
- Slide show (10%):
- Mobile Web App (20%):
- Report (10%):
- Demonstration (10%):

Marking scheme will be available giving you more details about the items expected in each
of the above categories.


III. Feedback Opportunities

Formative (Whilst youre working on the coursework)
You will frequently be given informal verbal or written feedback regarding your
performance on tasks relating to the coursework assessment during the laboratory and
demonstration sessions. Attendance is therefore important for your development and thus
coursework success.

I. Assessment Requirements

The task is to produce a database driven Film and DVD Store. The web site should
provide a list of available items in different categories. This website has to show evidence
of using the following general requirements and techniques.

Display list of products with appropriate descriptions
Users can add an item to a shopping basket. However, you are not expected to
deal with the payment processing.
Users should register to be able to access their accounts.
Users should be able to login and update their details.
System administrator should be able to add/delete products and categories.
System administrators should be able to perform account management;
adding/deleting users, changing/retrieving passwords.

All sites should have a link to a page that contains a report on the design and
implementation of the site. The report page(s) should include:

Database diagrams outlining the design; these may include concept maps.
You further must select one function from your site and detail its design using
hierarchical task analysis (HTA) with an accompanying error table.
A heuristic evaluation of your sites design using appropriate criteria

Each of the above should be accompanied by a relevant and detailed discussion justifying
design choices using HCI theory. Your report must be in HTML format with a visible link
from your main page. It is expected that you have a design layout appropriate for this
application.

page. The demonstration will be after your submission during your lab sessions. The exact

You are NOT allowed to use commercial or freeware shopping cart for this
coursework.
Late submission of assessed coursework will not be tolerated. Late work will need to be
submitted complete with an extenuating circumstance sheet and must be discussed with
lab tutor prior to the deadline. Any work submitted late (maximum one week) without
good cause can only achieve a maximum grade of a low 3
rd
. Work submitted over one
week late may not be marked at all and result in a fail grade.

If username and password are required to access some pages (as a user or admin), please
make sure that you have included these details in the main page.
