enhacements such as annotations and
dimensions.
Supplementary The Supplementary element encloses all
feature data not described specifically in the
schema. It is recommended to keep the use
of unstructured data to a bare minimum.
Version
Fixed Value = 4.0.0
The Project element
encloses all data that is
common to the whole
project.
Presently, for technical
simplicity, only a single
project may exist within an
instance document, but in
future it may be feasible for
multiple independant projects
to be delivered in a single
instance.
Project The ADAC element is the
root element of an ADAC
XML. It constrains all
enclosed elements as
follows. There can be no
other element in the root
level of the document.
ADAC
The version attribute marks the version of the instance document. Only a value of 4.0.0 will validate against this schema.
The rectangular coordinate envelope
enclosing the project area
Drawing Extents
Records the particulars of the horizontal
and vertical coordinate systems for the
whole project.

Buffer Strip A buffer strip is a vegetated slope.
Stormwater flows across a buffer strip.
Treatment is provided by infiltration to the soil
and by filtration of shallow flow through the
vegetation.
Swale A swale is a shallow trapezoidal channel lined
with vegetation. Stormwater flows along a
swale. Treatment is provided by infiltration to
the soil and by filtration of shallow flow
through the vegetation.
Bioretention Swale Bioretention swales include a vegetated
infiltration trench within the invert of a swale.
Incorporating the infiltration trench enhances
removal of both particles and nutrients.
Sedimentation Basin A sedimentation basin is a small pond, about
1mdeep, designed to capture coarse to
mediumsediment fromurban catchments.
Treatment is provided primary through
settling of suspended particles.
Bioretention Basin A bioretention basin is a vegetated bed of
filter material, such as sand and gravel. The
basin is designed to capture stormwater
runoff which then drains through the filter
media. Pollutants are removed by filtration
and by biological uptake of nutrients.
Constructed Wetland Constructed wetland systems are shallow,
vegetated water bodies the use enhanced
sedimentation, fine filtration and biological
uptake processes to remove pollutants from
stormwater.

Object Id Represents a place for an
object identifier, usually
generated by the data
creation software. Also
useful as a placeholder for
record ID generated by back-
end databases or GIS.
The ObjectId is permitted to
be nil because the capturing
system may not have the
capacity to generate one. If
features are exported from a
GIS or Asset Management
system, however, it is highly
recommended to carry them
out into this element.

Geometry Area Multipatch Complex Ring Geometry
Fragment Complex
Curve Elliptical
Represents a
sequence of 2 - n
vertices. The first
shall be regarded as
the start point,
proceeding in order
and the last shall be
regarded as the end
point.
Polysegment Any one of the
geometry fragment
choices may be used
in any order. Any
single fragment is
sufficient to describe
a complete path on
its own if desired.
This is the most
important element
group in the
geometry model. It is
crucial to the flexible
description of
complex geometries.
Any one of the
geometry fragment
choices may be used
in any order. Any
single fragment is
sufficient to describe
a complete path on
its own if desired.
N.B. As this group is
also used to
construct a complex
Ring, is is possible to
create and validate a
Ring that consists
only of a
PolySegment that
has two vertices. This
will result in a ring
that degrades to a
straight line with zero
area. It is unlikely that
an operator would
purposely digitise
such a ring, but it is
possible.
More than one ring
permitted. At least
one required. May
contain complex
curves.
This type controls the
content of a single
unbroken linear path
that may contain any
number of complex
fragments in any
order. Fragments
should be regarded
to forma continuous
chain even if their
start and end points
do not meet each
other in space.
Implementers should
consider this when
constructing the path
in a target system.
The end of one
fragment and the
start of the next
should be considered
to be joined by a
straight segment
when not coincident.
Represents a self-
contained circular
curve. A circular
curve may comstitute
a complex Polyline
Path or Polygon Ring
by itself. When used
in a Ring, the
FromPoint and To
Point shall be taken
to be joined by a
straight segment
unless already
coincident.

crucial to the flexible
description of
complex geometries.

N.B. As this group is
also used to
construct a complex
Ring, is is possible to
create and validate a
Ring that consists
only of a
PolySegment that
has two vertices. This
will result in a ring
that degrades to a
straight line with zero
area. It is unlikely that
an operator would
purposely digitise
such a ring, but it is
possible.
More than one ring

do not meet each
other in space.
Implementers should
consider this when
