Our rst class BEST Pilsen Malt gives beer a fresh and rounded
taste. It can be used for all types of light beer. It also forms an
excellent light and enzyme-rich foundation for almost all beer
styles.
The malt is produced from high-quality two-row spring barley,
which was grown in the best German and European barley
regions.
Malt characteristics: low protein levels, high extract content, light
colour and high enzymatic activity.
BEST Pilsen Malt is also available in organic-quality.

BEST Heidelberg Malt is suitable for brewing beers extremely light in
colour. It can be used for the same applications as BEST Pilsen Malt
and imparts a fresh, rounded beer avour.
The malt is produced from high-quality two-row spring barley, which
was grown in the best German and European barley regions.

fermented beers, creating a pleasant avour.
The malt is produced from high-quality two-row spring

It is an excellent base malt for brewing many different styles
of British Pale Ale as well as for brewing Klsch beer.

BEST Vienna Malt deepens the light and brilliant colour of the beer
and creates a pleasant, full-bodied taste.
Selected malting barley is used to produce the malt and it is crea-
ted according to a special malting process. This malt also has a high
enzymatic potential.

which was grown in the best German and European barley regions.

This malt is produced using a special malting process
designed to bring out certain desirable qualities, such as high
solubility.

The BEST Munich Malt is available in two different colour
levels.

BEST Melanoidin Malt contains a particularly large amount of
dextrins. It gives the beer a strong avour and a slightly red-
dish colour. The full-bodied nature of the beer is enhanced.
It is produced according to a special kilning process. The malt
is characterised by its ease of processing.

barley, which was grown in the best German and European
barley regions.

BEST Red X malt is specially created for brewing red-tinted beers.
You can use BEST Red X for up to 100% of your grain bill no
other malt is required. Offering exceptional reliability and optimal
processability, BEST Red X can be employed to brew consistently
ery beers with intense reddish hues. Its full-bodied avor and
attractive, unique color coupled with easy handling in the brewery,
make BEST Red X the best choice for creating a broad range of new
beers, such as red-tinted wheat beers.
As with all BEST malts, BEST Red X is produced using a special mal-
ting proce-dure exclusively from two-rowed spring malting barley
from recognized and thoroughly tested barley varieties.
Use
Perfectly suited for all red-tinted beers, amber beer, wheat beer, altbier, ale,
dark beer as well as for other beers.

BEST Caramel Malt Pils optimises the foam properties and
full-bodied character of the beer. The malt character resemb-
les that of BEST Pilsner malt.
The malt is produced from high-quality two-row spring
barley, which was grown in the best German and European
barley regions.
After the germination is nished, the green malt is stewed
and gently roasted using a special process. This produces
the special caramel aroma.
As with all BEST caramel malts, this malt is of exceptional
quality, both due to its excellent processing characteristics and superior
avour.

The Malt
BEST Special X malt imparts to beer depending on the amount in
the grist an intense malty-sweet avor reminiscent of raisins or
dried fruit. The beer possesses an amber-color to dark hue (depending
on rate) and an aromatic and harmonious full-bodied character.
The malt does not, however, introduce bitter roasted avors but
rather brings a mild smoothness to beer without any of the astringent
qualities associated with other dark malts.
BEST Special X is produced according to a unique malting process
and is very gently kilned afterwards. This creates a malt with an un-
commonly mild avor that despite its dark color exhibits very pleasant
nuances. The nest two-rowed summer malting barley varieties and
careful malting practices employing state-of-the-art techniques form
the foundation for this very distinctive malt with an exceptional avor and
aroma.
Use
Perfectly suited for amber-colored beers, all types of dark beer, altbier, bock,
schwarzbier, alcohol-free malt-based beverages, Belgian-style beers such as
abbey and trappist beers, English-style beers such as amber ales, dark ales,
porters and stouts.

BEST Black Malt (roasted malt) gives the beer greater depth of
colour and adds ne nuances of chocolate or coffee aromas.
The malt avour is also emphasised. The foam characteristics are not
affected.
The malt is produced from green or kiln-dried malt in an intensive
roasting process.
The colour of the malt can be adjusted to customer requirements
within a range of 5%.

Use
Perfectly suited for schwarzbier, dark beer, stout, porter, ale, bock,
altbier as well as for all beer styles for coloration.

BEST Smoked Malt gives beer a typical smoky avour

The Malt
BEST Acidulated Malt reduces the pH of the wort. This results in
improved enzyme activity of the mash, greater yield and avour
stability as well as a lighter colour and a balanced aroma in the ni-
shed beer. It also represents an interesting alternative for breweries
that have no mash acidication.

Perfectly suited for pilsner, lager, light beer as well as for all beer
styles for optimizing pH.

Delivery
BESTMALZ products are available all over the world either
directly from BESTMALZ or through one of our distribution
partners. Please feel free to contact us for information

Packaging
All of our malts can be ordered in bulk, in 25 kg/55 lbs or 50 kg/110 lbs
sacks as well as in super sacks (FIBC) 600 1,000 kg/1,300 2,200 lbs.
Shelf Life
If stored in a cool (max. 20C/ 68F), dry place (max. 35% RH),
our malts retain their excellent quality for a minimum of 24
months.
Remarks
All of our malts are produced in accordance with the purity
guidelines of the German Reinheitsgebot of 1516. We use no
genetically modied raw materials. Our malts are produced
in compliance with all valid food regulations and legal
provisions. Of course, absolute compliance with strict statutory limits
relating to pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, mycotoxins and nitrosamines
is guaranteed. This is checked by independent laboratories on
a regular basis.
All processes are conducted according to procedures that are
stipulated in our quality management system in accordance
with the European standard DIN-EN-ISO 9001:2008. This also
comprises a HACCP system. Certication of the systems is performed
regularly by the LGA InterCert. Malting barley and wheat are natural
products. This means that the specications given here are subject to
seasonal variation and are based on a minimum level of
quality for the harvested grain.
