I hadn't made any denimy goodness for the boy this September, bad me, and I felt I needed to
rectify that. What fun thing could I make him? I decided to go with a pouf for his room. I'e been
planning one of these for, like, eer. !nd you know what? It has been a "#$% hit. I didn't hae
the slightest clue that he would loe it the way he does. "e lugs it about. "e rolls it around. "e
hugs it. "e &umps on it. "e beats it. !nd I let him. It is one tough pouf'
(utorial) *ne (ough +ouf

stuffing 2I used the stuffing from 6 large cushions that we rarely used3
*ptional) embroidery thread and dimensional fabric paint
/. *n a large piece of paper, draw out a circle using your /0 inch circle template. 8ind the center
of your circle. -ou want to figure out how big a /9/6th wedge of the circle is. (he angle of the
resulting wedge will measure) :;<=9/6 > :<=.
6. So from your circle, you will pick out one :<= wedge and then add a /< inch long rectangle to
the bottom of this wedge. .iide the wedge from the bottom rectangle with a straight line. ?ow
diide the wedge into two sections as in 56. @ut off about / inch of the uppermost ape, of the
wedge. *n a separate sheet of paper draw out the indiidual resulting shapes. !dd /9A inch seam
allowance to eery side of each shape. @ut out your shapes. (hese are your pouf templates.
:. 8or each pouf template, cut out A each of : different shades of denim. I did light, medium and
dark as best I could.
A. (o prepare for sewing, pin top wedge pieces rightBsides together as shown in 5/, mi,ing
shades of denim as you go.
4. (o ensure that the edges of your wedge pieces line up, intersect the pieces as shown in 54.
Sew the pieces together with a /9A inch seam allowance.
;. *nce you unfold the wedge at the seam, the edges of the two pieces should match.
C. Sew the wedge to the rectangle rightBsides together using a /9A inch seam allowance.
0. When unfolded, this will gie you a house shape as shown in 50. -ou need /6 house shapes to
make the pouf. 7epeat steps A through 0 until you hae all /6 house shapes.
D. +in two house shapes right sides together. When pinning the house shapes together it is
IM+%7!(IE% to align the &oint between the wedges and rectangle pieces. *therwise the whole
pouf will be askew. Stitch along one side of the house shape with a /9A inch seam allowance.
/<. +ress the seams once sewn. ?otice that the two house shapes sewn together no longer lie flat.
(hat's good. !dd the ne,t house shape to the set of two as in 5D.

another fabric scrap.
/:. +in the circles right sides together.
/A. Stitch circles together with a /96 inch seam allowance leaing a few inches open for turning.
@ut tiny wedges out of the circle's seam allowance aoiding the opening. (urn the circle inside
out. +ress.
/4. +in the circle, denim side up, to the center top of the pouf. Stitch in place.
/;. !dding a /96 inch seam allowance prior to cutting, cut out a denim circle with the help of the
/0 inch circle template.
/C. #sing pins, mark the location of /6 eenlyBspaced points along the edge of the denim circle.
(o do this, start by folding the circle in half. Mark the hales with pins at the edges.
/0. 8old the half circle into si,ths. #se a ruler to get matching measurements. Mark the si,ths
with pins on the top and bottom.
/D. 8old the si,ths in half to find the twelfths. Mark with pins along the edges.
6<. Foin the denim circle to the pouf right sides together.
6/. (he pins of the circle should meet the &oints of the pouf.
66. *nce all of these points are &oined, add seeral pins to the outer edge. Stitch with a /96 inch
seam allowance. Geae an opening for turning.
6:. Snip the seam allowance all the way around e,cept at the opening.
6A. Stuff your pouf. I used the stuffing from two large cushions to stuff it. (his makes a
relatiely firm pouf.
64. Sew the opening shut.
6;. *ptional) !dd decoratie stitching or dimensional paint to make your pouf oneBofBaBkind. I
added red embroidery details and little dots of red fabric paint to our pouf because that's the boy's
