RESUME

Job Position: Union Laborer

I know that it has nothing to do with this
field, and I'm trying to get away from the old
one I was in because of the down economy
(they say). There has been a lack of work in
what I have been doing, maybe not for
everyone, but for me. There, I was always what
my Dad called, "The low man on the totem
pole," and they gave me the most dangerous
and hardest jobs they had.

I did anything from pavement breaking
with a 65 to 90 pound pavement breaker (a lot
of people call it a jackhammer, but that is
technically a different tool that has a rotary bit
on the end too) to working on scaffolding high
in the air building buildings. After someone
died on a job, it seems like that is when they'd
typically call me in, and I got to look at pictures
of their lifeless bodies. It was part of the safety
meetings. They always seemed to keep the
easy jobs for themselves, like gluing in foam to
bridges.
To be entirely honest, I think my messed up
back and a few medical problems are the
reason why they really don't call me like they
used to, but they always give me the same lame
excuse; eventually, after being given the run
around by them (it was Union and by them I
mean my business agents), I decided to go back
to college. I'm not trying to be a whiner, but I
am just writing the truth as I see it.

Skills: Diverse

Cub Scout and Boy Scout: When I was growing up, I was a Cub Scout and later a Boy Scout. Some
people may laugh at that, but they don't see the bigger picture of that program as I see it. That program
is supposed to prepare you for the rigors of life and teach you many various things including:

Leadership Skills
Courteousness
Teamwork
Honesty
Dependability
Respect
Self Discipline

I could go on and on about the program because believe it or not it teaches you a lot, but I think
it teaches you to be an good asset no matter what you're doing. That is why I wanted to list it in with
my skill set.

My Presidential Academic Fitness Award
and Boy Scout Service Star
Technical Education: In High School I took a one year long technical education class. In it (we
were able to choose the type of technology we wanted to work with) I used
the audio/video room for about nine weeks designing a video, then later
moved on to designing a cartoon (that was only for about 3 weeks). I have
worked with audio/video technology for quite some time. I thought it may
help with my aspirations to be a musician and artist.

I've worked with the following programs extensively.

Art and a Specialized
Art II Class: In seventh, eighth grade, and High School I wanted art to be the main focus
of my studies. When I grew up I realized that may have been a mistake
because I couldn't afford to go to College, but as per I'm applying for more
business oriented companies that may see it as somewhat of an asset
(possibly), I figured I may list it here. Advertising and whatnot were part of
the Instruction, as well as photography. My forte in art was drawing.

A couple of drawings I have done. Most of them seem to have disappeared throughout time.

An example of some of my photography.

Computer Applications: In computer applications we learned the basics of Microsoft Office. The
curriculum was based around four aspects of the Microsoft Office 2010
environment.

In the Microsoft Word portion, we learned how to make documents pleasing to the eye (I
believe my art background also helps with this) and to navigate through the different settings
and bars. It teaches some of the more advanced features a regular person may not be aware
of.

In the Microsoft Excel portion, we learned how to make spreadsheets and different data
tables. We learned how to make them pleasing to the eye; as well, we also learned how to
insert charts into a presentation to make them more understandable to a visual sort of
learner.

In the Microsoft Access portion, we learned how to make a databases and how to separate
different aspects of the master database to make data mining easier.

In the Microsoft PowerPoint portion, we learned how to make a slideshow, and how to go
through the different items in the menus to make our presentations more enjoyable to
viewers.

I didn't get any information upon Microsoft Visio in my Computer Applications class;
however, it is an instrument we were taught to use in my Information Technology Classes,
and I figured it was worth noting here. It is a separate but integral part of the Microsoft
Office environment; in other words, you have to buy it separately, but it is still a part of
Microsoft Office.

IT Academy Courses

In my CompTIA A+ class I received an
fundamental understanding of computer
hardware, how Northbridge and Southbridge
work together, and about computer
accessories. I was given instruction about the
front side and back side busses of a computer.
In the class I was given a knowledge of
computer ports and what processes are
associated with them as well as different RAID
levels.
I was given information about printers,
how to make a multiple monitor system,
command prompt and hardware tools to use to
diagnose computer problems, and as well as
how to troubleshoot problems with Computer
Accessories. It was overall a very informative
class and I feel a good place to start learning the
technical aspects of a computer.

In CompTIA Network+ I was taught about
the basics of a network. Knowledge was passed
about the differences between the different
network interfaces such as switches and
routers. I went in depth with the OSI model and
learned which process does what at which
layer, as well, about encapsulation of packets
and how they go through the wire to deliver the
information to specific targets over the
network.
I was taught some about subnetting and
how it makes different small networks within
large networks. Network Address Translation
(NAT) was taught to us and how it works to
make many IP addresses within a private
network into one IP address, alleviating some of
the IPv4 shortcomings.

In Windows 7 Configuration. I used a USB
stick with the User State Migration Tool USMT
to transfer one user's settings to another
computer. I learned how to partition a hard
drive using the GUI in Disk Management, about
setting disk quotas, making users, and about
Imaging a computer with ImageX (we never
actually got to do that though), and about
Windows Firewall's advanced features (more
about that later in my Network Infrastructure
class however).

In the Windows Server 2008 Administrator
course I set up my own root domain controller
and joined a DC to it and we went through
some of the different possible roles that a
Server can be. It was all part of the parent
domain. In this course the key objective was to
set us up with a fundamental knowledge for the
next course which was Windows Server 2008
Active Directory Configuration. In class the
Instructor taught us about server redundancy to
keep traffic going even when one server goes
down.

Over the course of these two classes we made
four DCs of which two were in the parent
domain, and two were in a child domain where
we performed these tasks with our servers:

Naming Convention - This is where we as
a group set up a standard used to name DCs
and computers.
Logical Diagram - We made a logical
diagram of the domains, OUs, groups and
users using Microsoft Office Visio.
Physical Diagram - We made a physical
diagram of the server rack using Microsoft
Office Visio.
Initial Computer Configuration - This is
where we made the initial server setup.
Running DC Promo and Installing AD DS
- We installed the Active Directory Domain
Services roll on a Domain Controller.
Joined a DC to the Parent Domain - We
joined a second domain controller to the
parent domain.
Creating Child Domain - We created a
child domain DC linked to the parent
domain.
Joined another DC to Child Domain - We
joined a fourth DC to the child domain.
Created Users in a Domain
Created a File Server - We created this
for people to store their files on.
Created Shares and Folder Permissions
- We created these so people couldn't
access information they weren't supposed
to.
Created a Root Certificate Authority CA
Created a Subordinate CA - We learned
the reason why you want to create one of
these.
Created a Standalone CA
Created WSUS (Parent)
Created WSUS (Child)
Linked Group Policy to OUs

I am looking for a place that will help me finish paying for my college degree. Here is my Unofficial
College Transcript. I cannot order a real one at this time because I owe them money, so if I could get a
job to pay for it I could get one, or if the money is right maybe not get one (I really would like to get my
degree though).
