This document summarizes the results of a study on rotary drum composting of mixed organic waste using different carbon-to-nitrogen (C/N) ratios. The study tested C/N ratios of 15, 22, and 30. It found that a C/N ratio of 22 resulted in compost maturity after 20 days, while a ratio of 30 required over 20 days. A ratio of 15 resulted in nitrogen loss. The C/N ratio of 22 produced compost with the highest quality based on measurements of temperature, moisture content, organic matter reduction, and pathogen kill.

While initial C/N ratio of 30 can produce quality compost, but it would require a composting period of more than 20 days. Consequently, loss of nitrogen observed at low C/N ratio of 15, which is not suitable for composting in Rotary drum. EXTENDED WORK (Dr. A. A. Kazmi and Ajay S.
