Withtherapidurbanizationandpopulationgrowthoftheworld,especiallyinthepast
fewdecades,energyusageisskyrocketing.Alongwiththecurrentstateofclimatechange,
weneedtostartstoppingrelyingonfossilfuelsforelectricitygeneration,andstarttomove
tomorecleanandrenewableenergies,suchassolarandwindpower,alongwithnuclear
powerandotherpower.Inthemostrecentstatistics,globally,only15%ofenergy
productionisclean,whiletherestaredifferentformsofcarbonemittingfossilfuels.
Ourplanofactionistoraiseawarenessabouthowbigofaproblemcoalis,andlet
thepublicknowthatwemusttackletheissuesnowratherthanwaitinguntilitstoolate.Our
firststepistostartlocal,bycallingvariousorganizations,puttinguppostersaroundvarious
partsofthecity,callingandemailingcitizensthatmaybeinterestinginhelping.Inaddition,
wearewillingtoproduceaneffectiveandinformativevideo,usingallthepriorresearch
thatwevebeenworkingonoverthelastcoupleweekswhichencouragesoptingintothe
Windsource

program,sponsoredbyourlocalelectricityprovider,XcelEnergy.The
program,forunderadollaramonth,encouragesdevelopmentofcleanenergyand
allocatesmorecleanenergyintothebaseloadpowergridinsteadoffossilfuels.To
improvetheenergycrisisinternationally,wearealsogoingtofunddifferentawareness
programsandtrytogetourschoolontheWindsource

program.Inaddition,wewouldlike
toraiseawarenessforprogramsliketheGlobalPowerShift,whopromotesustainable
energysolutionsinternationally.
Wedecidedtousethisapproachbecausewhenwemakepeopleawareofthe
programs,theyaremorelikelytodonatetheirownmoney,andwillbethemost
costeffectivewayofusingmoregreenenergy.Informingothersisagreatwaytospread
influencetoothers,andisthemosteffective.Inaddition,wealsoaretryingtofundraiseto
getourschoolandothersacrossthenationontootherWindsource

likeprogramswhen
available.
Wehopetoshowtheworldthatmakingtheswitchtoasustainableenergysource
wewillbeabletosaveourearth,withsolutionssuchasnuclearpower,becauseasBill
Gateshassaiditbest,Almosteverywaywemakeelectricitytoday,exceptforthe
emergingrenewablesandnuclear,putsoutCO2...weneedenergymiracles.A
combinationofrenewableandnuclearpowercanprovidethosemiracles.
