The Middle Ages were from around 500AD to 1500AD.

Some people say

that during the Middle Ages experienced a reformation. The dark ages are
characterised as Medieval, rural, and plague ridden. The western part of
Europe changed after the fall of the roman empire because William the
conqueror brought feudalism with him. I feel that is was an important period
because it revolutionised the way Europe was run, forever.
I believe that the dark ages were much brighter then we give it credit for.
Even though it had its dark spots, it was a time filled with great advances in
learning and development for some.

According to Gray C. Boyces,1964 The Medieval Period in The 34th
yearbook of the National Council for the social Studies, it was a creative
and inventive, time period. People had to be inventive because they didnt
have much to live on and most people were very poor but they still
managed to build towns and break away from their manors. All this
evidence points back to my thesis because even through a plague, the
peasants managed to get higher wages and better work hours. The authors
point of view is obviously one of someone who thinks that the dark ages
were not truly dark.

Its apparent that in 1095, Pope Urban II also didnt think that the Middle
Ages were are a dark period in time. He saw it as a time to win back the
Holy Land from the Turks. People believed that if they went to fight the
pagans in the crusades theyd have immediate remission of sins. As bad
as it was that they were lied to like this, it gave them something to do,
somewhere new to see. The life expectancies at this time were short
anyway, at least theyd have something to life for. He also managed to
solve the problem of the rogue knights who were causing havoc in the
kingdom.

The author, H. C. David, of this 1949, secondary source from Oxford,
England called Medieval Europe, describes the Middle Ages as not
unworthy to rank with those of earlier and later Golden Ages, because it
flourished in the midst of a plague and many other traumatic things, they
still managed to invent things like universities and break free from their
manors, and develop towns and better living standards. I think this author
believes that the dark ages werent truly dark.

People arguing the opposite side might say that conditions were really rural
in some places, like historian Frantz Funck Brentano, in 1922, who made
use of previously published texts to describe Europe in the 800s when
Hungarians swarmed the Eastern provinces, towns and villages causing
terror. But they are only imagining the happenings of this time from an
Eastern European point of view. People outside of Eastern Europe
progressed and moved forwards and gained great riches from stealing from
the Eastern Europeans. Also the Muslims, while facing heavy casualties,
were victorious throughout most of the Crusades.

I believe that it is important to learn about the middle ages and how they
lived and that it wasnt really a dark period in time, we just dont know a lot
about it, because itll help us move forward in society, we can learn from
our ancestors mistakes so we do not make them again. In the Middle Ages,
a lot of bad things happened, just like any other period in time, but the most
important part of the matter is that they managed to bounce back better
that ever from a plague, break from their manors and recover from several
crusades.
