Progressive Maryland supports candidates who favor a pro-working family agenda that builds a
strong middle class in Maryland. Elections can have an enormous impact on our work to reduce
income inequality and improve the lives of working families in Maryland. It is our responsibility to
advocate for working families by engaging in the political process and we do so utilizing our vast
membership base, electronic communications and professional door-to-door canvass.

Yes, however, I believe that small businesses are the key to a thriving local economy. Small
businesses under 51 employees should be exempt especially if they receive tax incentives to hire
unemployed or underemployed people.

eligible members and that once a union is recognized, all persons covered
in the bargaining unit pay reasonable service fees, if they choose not to

The current situation between the current Democratic incumbent and the FOP retirees is a disgrace.
The initial amount of retiree benefits were under $600,000. The current amount after court costs and
interest assessments now stands at $1.6 million dollars. As County Executive, I will fulfill the
agreements made in good faith between the county and our public employees.

Personal comment: As a son of a USW member from Pennsylvania, I understand the important and
vital roles of unions to help better the lives of working families. The answers given here are consistent
with the responses to the AFL-CIO questionnaire I filled out previously during this campaign. While I
know I would be a better partner to labor than the current county executive, I am fully aware of the
stigma of Republican candidates in Maryland.

I want you to know that I am not the average Republican candidate. If I was to receive your support
and win in November, the wellbeing of public employees in Baltimore County will be taken seriously by
my administration.
