ARENA SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

System Requirements
The minimum requirements/recommendations for running the Arena software are as follows:
* Arena software, version 10.00.

Arena Software Installation Steps
* hen 2ou insert the Arena 67, the autorun /rogram should start. ,f it does not, 1rowse to autorun.exe on the 67
and dou1le;clic' it to start the installation.
* %elect ,nstall Arena from the install dialog. hen /rom/ted for a serial num1er, enter the serial num1er from the
Arena activation dis' included with the software or the Activation 6ertificate included in the red envelo/e in 2our
/roduct /ac'age. ,f 2ou are confused on which t2/e of activation 2ou have, see Activation Aotes 1elow.
Aote: Cou ma2 receive multi/le serial num1ers if 2ou have add;on /roducts. Dnl2 the serial num1er from the Arena
/roduct $e.g., Arena <asic -dition or Arena &rofessional -dition) should 1e entered.
* hen choosing a location on the &6Es hard drive to install Arena, /lease note that Arena will 1e /laced in a
su1folder of the one 2ou s/ecif2. >or e.am/le, if 2ou install Arena 10.0 and s/ecif2 the install folder F6:GH, the
software will 1e installed in the F6:GArena 10.0H folder.
* At the end of the Arena install, 2ou will see an o/tion to install the activation for Arena. This refers to Master 7is'

Installing Master Disk Activation
At the end of the Arena install, 2ou will see an o/tion to install the activation for Arena. 6hec' this o/tion and insert
the master activation dis' into the dis' drive. hen the Move Activation utilit2 a//ears, clic' the $ove 1utton. <2
default, the activation will 1e /laced on the 6 drive.
Alternativel2, the activation can 1e installed or moved at a later time to an alternate location 12 choosing Start -
.rogra(s - /ockwell Software - tilities - $ove Activation. >or more information on 3oc'wellEs license
activation, or for hel/ in setting u/ a networ' license, choose Start - .rogra(s - /ockwell Software - tilities -
Activation Help.

An activation file is a digitall2 signed, /lain;te.t file that activates a software /roduct and Floc'sH the activation to a
/articular /iece of hardware, such as a com/uterEs hard dis' or -thernet card. The contents of an activation file are
/rotected 12 a signature, generated 12 3oc'well %oftware, which is 1ased on machine;s/ecific information that 2ou
/rovide when 2ou install the software.

A :ost ,7 is an internal code that uniquel2 identifies a hardware device. >actor2Tal'

Activation* uses the :ost ,7 to


Floc'H each software activation file to a s/ecific hardware device.
To /revent activations from failing une./ectedl2 at runtime, do not loc' activations to virtual networ' ada/ters, such as
those used for virtual /rivate networ's $9&A) or virtual machines. ,nstead, loc' activations to the :ost ,7s of fi.ed
devices such as hardware networ' ada/ters or hard dis' serial num1ers. ,f 2ou need hel/ determining which networ'
ada/ters are virtual ada/ters, contact 2our ,nformation Technolog2 de/artment.

A Fnode;loc'edH activation file Floc'sH the software activation to a s/ecific hardware ,7, called a F:ost ,7,H that
uniquel2 identifies a local com/uter or a hardware dongle:
* 0ocal* node1locked activations can activate software onl2 on a single com/uter. ,f the activation file is co/ied to
another com/uter, the software will not run on that other com/uter.
* $obile* node1locked activations are loc'ed to hardware dongles. A dongle is a securit2 or co/2;/rotection device
that must 1e connected to the com/uter while the /rogram runs. The activation files can 1e co/ied to multi/le
com/uters, 1ut the software activates onl2 on the com/uter where the dongle is connected.

A FconcurrentH activation Floc'sH the software activation to an activation server com/uter. The server manages a /ool
of activations and shares them with client com/uters over a networ' connection. 6lient com/uters must 1e configured
to search for activations on the activation server.
There are two 'inds of concurrent activations:
* 2loating activations are automaticall2 assigned to a client com/uter when the client runs software that requires
activation and are automaticall2 returned to the activation server when the client shuts down the software or loses its
networ' connection. >loating activations require a continuous networ' connection.
* 3orrowed activations are also retrieved from a /ool of availa1le activations on an activation serverL however,
1orrowed activations e./ire after a s/ecified amount of time. Bnli'e a floating activation that requires a continuous
networ' connection, once a 1orrowed activation is chec'ed out to a /articular com/uter, the com/uter can
disconnect from the networ'.

Cour new software will activate when 2ou attach the dongle.

Tip: %ome /roducts allow 2ou to add activations to increase the ca/acit2 of the /roduct $for e.am/le, tag count,
wor'cell count, dis/la2 count). This is called capacity activation. ,f the /roduct 2ou are using ma'es use of ca/acit2
activation, 2ou might need to create an activation server o/tions file to reserve activations for com/uters on the

Tip: To run 2our software while disconnected from the networ', clic' the %urrent Activations ta1 and 1orrow a
time;e./iring activation.

activation files for all of the :ost ,7s on an2 com/uter with ,nternet access. >inall2, use the 2actoryTalk Activation
Transfer Tool to co/2 the activation files to the com/uters where the activations are needed.
>or e.am/le, su//ose 2ou want to install node;loc'ed activation files on several stand;alone com/uters on a factor2

follow the instructions to download all of the activations 2ou need.

The >actor2Tal' Activation Transfer Tool automaticall2 determines which activation files 1elong with which
