Week 11 - Fibre/Wireless Network Convergence

To meet the user expectations of broadband connectivity, architectures of fibre networks

have evolved exceptionally.

In order to provide a packaged digital communication service for home and personal use,
Fiber-optic service was introduced. Fibre optic was initially primarily used for Internet
communication and is known as the fastest communication method

Internet ecosystem is best to be described as the organizations and different communities
which have evolved leading technology development and infrastructure which the Internet
is comprised of. the Internet is developed of which organizations sharing common values
commitment.

rapid and continued development and the adoption of Internet technologies is what the
Internet ecosystems main focus is
involvement of a broad range of actors; open, transparent, and collaborative processes; is
what characterizes the use of products and infrastructure with separated ownership and
control.

Internet Ecosystem is embraced by Organizations which include:
Technical standards bodies such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the World
Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
The Internet - The State Of The Nation
Telecom has progressed a long way in the 10 years since a dotcom era
characterised by lagging technology and PSTN accounting practices.
Evolution from simple connectivity
through applications to devices.
The telecommunications industry is changing rapidly - as is the internet - and theyre
creating a mutual feedback loop. This feedback loop is virtuous if youre a consumer of such
services but its terrifying if youre a supplier in these industries.
Telecom is changing the internet. The internet is changing telecom. Lets start with the latter
assertion
Skype freeware comes to the telephone
Using teletype, George Stibitz (one of the fathers of the modern first digital computer was
able to transmit problems to his Complex Number Calculator and receive the computed
results This configuration of a centralized computer or mainframe with remote dumb
terminals was well known during the 1950s.
In the 1960s researchers began investigating packet switching which is a technology,
without passing first through a centralized mainframe computers allow large bits of data to
be sent to different computers.
The request for comment was centered by the ARPANET development. In 1969 the RFC1
was published.
ARPANET eventually merged with other networks which formed the internet. Through this
merge a number of protocols where specified
Internet protocol and the Transmission control protocol (TCP) was introduced by the RFC
791 in September 1981. This is the reason why the TCP/IP protocol was created which many
users reply on.
Internet access became widespread late in the century, using the old telephone and
television networks.
In the late century using old telephone and television networks, internet access became
continued to spread significantly
Industry Evolution
Innovations were able to make for only the monopoly telecoms operator and its chosen
circle of specialist equipment suppliers were given access to the telecoms
network.
This meant there were barriers to enter this innovation
System. The knowledge base supporting global telecoms was splintered and there were very
few innovators.

specific designs and technologies where made by the national telecoms network.
For example, the Japanese market had central office switches designed for them.

in Europe or the US the cost of considerable modification could not be changed.
switches designed for the European or US markets had the same rules applied.

Under this ruled reason were over powered since the market size for products designed for
specific market was relatively small.

Consolidation Of Supply
The Internet is best defined as connecting individual networks worldwide. Its governed by
the industry, academia, and private parties.
Since 1994 laboratories where interconnected originally by the Internet To provide for
millions of users. many purposes worldwide have been delivered by government research.
