ANALYSIS OF NESTLES MISSION STATEMENT
CUSTOMERS
The mission statement of Nestle uses the word Consumers in general sense. It
does not specify what type of customers it wants to serve.
PRODUCTS &
SERVI CES
Nestls mission statement does talk about the products and services it is offering to
its customers. It is dealing in food and beverage sector and striving to provide
healthy and nutritious food products to its consumers.
MARKETS
Geographical boundaries are also reflected in the mission statement of Nestle. The
beginning of the statement indicates its presence on global level and serving the
consumers around the world with best tasting and most nutritious choices in a wide
range of food and beverage categories.
TECHNOLOGY
Mission statement of Nestle, however, does not highlight the kind of technology it
is using to manufacture the products it is providing to consumers around the globe.
CONCERN FOR
GROWTH,
SURVI VAL AND
PROFI TI BI LI TY
Nestls concern for its growth, survival and profitability is not mentioned in the
mission statement.
SELF-CONCEPT
Nestls mission statement, to some extent, also discusses its self-concept which is
hidden. Its global presence is a competitive advantage which exposes it to a large
market of consumers around the blue earth.
PHI LOSOPHY
The mission statement of Nestle does not throw light directly to its core values,
beliefs, aspirations and its ethical concerns. However, its punch line Good Food,
Good Life indirectly highlights that it wants to provide best quality hygiene food
to all its customers which will result in their better health.
CONCERN FOR

community and environmental concerns.
CONCERN FOR
EMPLOYEES
Nestls Mission statement does not provide any hint whether it considers its
employees valuable assets for the firm or not and how it ensures the well-being of
the employees.

Suggested Mission Statement
The present mission statement of Nestle does not cover all the components of a comprehensive
mission statement. Nestls vision addresses more stakeholders than the original mission and
should be combined into it to provide more information about the business. The vision statement
of Nestle additionally includes concerns for survival, public image, and employees that the
official statement lacks. The combined statement would better communicate Nestls reason for
being in the business to its stakeholders.
To be the worlds leading competitive Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company. Our mission
of Good Food, Good Life is to provide consumers with the best tasting, most nutritious choices
in a wide range of food and beverage categories, delivering improved shareholder value by being
a preferred corporate citizen, preferred employer, preferred supplier, selling preferred products.
Characteristics of Nestls Mission Statement
Mission statement of Nestle is broader in scope as it does not include monetary amounts,
numbers, percentages or ratios etc. It consists of 44 words which means it is not quite lengthy. It
also highlights the utility of Nestls products as it provides a wide range of food and beverage
products which are both tasty and nutritious but it misses the social an environmental concerns of
the company. It is not reconciliationary as it does not address the interests and concerns of
multiple stakeholders of Nestle.
