Poster Research

To help me create my own horror film poster, I looked at existing horror film
posters.

The cabin in the woods film poster



The background is trees which are fading into white, towards the bottom of the
page. There is an image of cabin which is repeated three times but has been
rotated and flips in different directions. Under this there is the pug line YOU
THINK YOU KNOW THE STORY which is in a small black font, this stand out from
the white black. Under this is the film name THE CABIN IN THE WOODS; under
this is the information about the film and the release date in large font, making it
stand out from the smaller text.

is made up of
trees like woods;
with then blends
into the white.
The main image
is the cabins, as
this image hints
that the cabin is
dont what is
seems to be.
This is the pug
line, this allow
grabs the
audiences
attention allows
then an insight
into the film.
The film name is in
bold and large font.
The added effect to
the name this goes,
with the theme and
the house style of
poster.

Mama film poster



The background is black fading into the image, of a woman with moths around
her and within her and woman appears to be pale and surrounded by darkness.
Appose to the child who is holding her, as she looks more alive than the woman
and does not blend into the darkness as well as the woman. At the top of the
directors name is shown, and towards the bottom of the page, an actresss name
Jessica Chastain is shown in small white font who is the main character in the
film. Under this is the films name MAMA in white large font, as it is larger it
catches the audience eye. Under this is the pug A MOTHERS LOVE IS FOREVER,
this gives a hint of what the film is about to the audience. And at the bottom two
corners there are logos of the companies associated with the production or
distribution of the film.

same font is used on
the other texts at
towards the bottom
of the page but in a
smaller size.


However the film
name in the same
font but in a much
larger font and
boulders, making
the white brighter
than the other text;
and creating a
contrast between
the background and
the text.
The images used
show the main
twist of the film
but intentionally
revealing more to
the audience.
The pug line,
relates the images
with the plot, and
gets the audiences
attention.
