This instruent shall be suitabl e for ferri te content easureent in weld etal and clad
la!ers of austeni ti c and duple" stainless steels.

standards shall be easured with an e"treel ! accurate test ethod.
Calibrati on standard set . The calibrati on standard set used for the calibrati on of the
FE(&TSCOPE )P*+ consists of a base and three calibrati on standards of different 6nown
ferri te contents.

The N-T Controll er dele%ated for the control and coordinati on of N-T acti $i ti es shall
issue the FC) &nspector with a dail! wri tten list of aterials read! for inspecti on.
The FC) &nspector shall be responsible for conducti n% and reporti n% the results of
inspection is accordance with this present Procedure.

Onl! trained personnel shall underta6e the operati on and interpretati on of recorded
resul ts to ensure that both the procedure and the wor6 are ipl eented correctl ! in
order to identi f ! 8 $erif! the noi nal ateri al coposi ti ons.

TC( Personnel. Selected on the basis of pre$i ous wor6 e"peri ence.
Crew coposi ti on is noral l ! coposed of a Site= in= char%e1 and one or ore
FC) technicians.
The custoer will be pro$i ded opportuni t ! to re$iew the e"perience details of
FC) technicians.

The e#ui pent used to easure the ferri te content shall be FE(&TSCOPE )P*+ which
shall %i$e di%i tal read out of the $alue either in 3 Fe or FN. This instruent uses the
a%neti c induction test ethod whereb! the ferri te content shall be obtai ned fro the
a%neti c pereabi l i t !.
<. P(OCE-0(E
A. S0(FACE (E/0&(E)ENTS
The ob5ect on which the ferri te content shall be easured shall be %round flat and free
of %rease1 dirt etc. Sooth polished surface for testi n% id ore preferabl e. There shall
not be an! ite or the li6e near the ob5ect1 which shall interfere with the a%neti c
characteristi cs of the instruent.
B. CAL&B(AT&ON
Before start of the actual easureent on the ob5ect1 switch on the instruent and the
noral isati on and calibrati on shall be perfored usin% the base and the calibrati on
standards set as per the anufacturers' e#uipent anual.
C. )ETBO-
i. The probe shall be placed $ertical l ! on the surface of the easuri n% ob5ect to
perfor the easureent.
ii. The easureent shall be perfored withi n the reference area.
iii. On obser$ati on of readi n% as it appears in the displa!1 the probe can be shifted
to ne"t area of interest as re#uired.
i$. The probe shall be lifted at least @+ 2,C4 fro the easuri n% ob5ect between
readin%s.

E. CO((ECT&ON FACTO(
The effect of these factors shall be corrected b! ul ti pl !i n% the easured ferri te
content with the correspondi n% correction factors. The e#uipent operation anual
describes in detail the situati ons1 which warrants the applicati on of correction factors.
