The success of the Hunger Games

Every year, the evil Capitol of the nation Panem forces each of its twelve districts
to send a teenage boy and girl to take part in the Hunger Games. The story is about a
nationally televised event in which the tributes must fight in a gigantic arena until only one
survivor remains. From the poor to the rich, every person between 12 and 18 years old lives
the nightmare of participating in the ripping year after year.
The heroine is called Katniss, a brave girl living in the poorest district of Panem. Since
her father died in a mine accident, Katniss looked after her mother and her younger sister
hunting illegally in the woods and providing food. When she is chosen to take part in the
annual Hunger Games, her family risks to lose its only support. She can hunt, fish, trip and
fight, so she is a fierce competitor in the arena.
The movie is made after Suzanne Collinss best selling young-adult book. The novel is
classified for an audience between 12 and 18, like the game participants themselves, but it is
also very appreciate by people over 18. The movie is not targed for children as it shows that
the government forces children to fight and die for the entertainment of television viewers.
Special movie effects were added to enhance most of the scenes in the Hunger
Games. The director, Gary Ross, says that special effects were chosen to create the feelings
of power, authority and wealth in the Capitol, a very rich and evoluted part of the state, in
comparison to Katnisss district. The special effects were also used to create the feeling of
living with the possibility of being failed any moment and to bring the adventure and the
danger into viewers imagination.
The most shocking scenes are the ones with the bloodbaths and the merciless killing
of the 24 tributes. The human huntings are the subject of same brutal, harrowing scenes.
Some of the tributes, which are less important for the movie are easy targets and get killed
by swords and knives while the smarter ones are killed in more difficult ways. There is a
scene describing the death of a 12-year-old girl which touched a lot of people worldwide.
I would recommend you should go to the cinema and buy tickets for this movie, as it
is worth seeing. You will have a great time and you will remember it for many years.
