Gautam Thapar - Chairman
Gautam Thapar is Chairman & CEO of India's foremost diversified corporation, the Avantha
Group. Mr. Thapar began his education at the prestigious Doon School, where he imbibed a
liberal education based on the ideals of secularism, discipline and equality. After studying
chemical engineering in the U.S.A., he returned to India and started his career as a factory
assistant in one of the organisation's manufacturing companies.
Sudhir M Trehan - Vice Chairman
Sudhir Trehan is the Non-Executive Vice Chairman of the Board. He is a gold medalist
engineering graduate from the renowned Birla Institute of Technology at Ranchi. He has
completed his Post Graduate studies (M.S.) from the State University of New York, Stony
Brook, USA. He is also actively involved in various national industry forums like IEEMA, CII
and AIMA.
Laurent Demortier - CEO and Managing Director
Laurent Demortier has been appointed as the CEO and Managing Director of CG from 2nd June
2011. He holds an MBA from the prestigious Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania,
USA and a Masters Engineering Degree in Physics from Ecole Centrale Marseille, France.
Independent Director on the Board:
Shirish Apte : Mr Shirish Apte is an Independent Director on the Board. Mr Apte is a Chartered
Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales; and, also holds an
MBA degree from the London Business School, he has more than 30 years of experience with
Citigroup.
Dr. Omkar Goswami :
Dr Goswami is an Independent Director on the Board. He is also a Chairman Risk & Audit
Committee and a member of the Remuneration Committee. Dr Goswami is the Founder and
Executive Chairman of CERG Advisory Private Limited, a company engaged in corporate
advisory and consulting services for companies in India and abroad. Dr Goswami has a Master's
Degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, and also a D. Phil (Ph.D) from
Oxford University, UK.
B Hariharan :
Mr B Hariharan is a Non-Executive Director on the Board. He is a qualified Chartered
Accountant, Cost Accountant and Company Secretary, having over 29 years experience in
finance. As Group Director-Finance, he drives the financial and growth strategy of the Avantha
Group, the Promoter Group of CG.
Sanjay Labroo :
Sanjay Labroo is an Independent Director on the Board. He is also the Chairman of the
Remuneration Committee of the Company and a Member of the Risk & Audit Committee, Mr
Labroo holds a dual Degree in Finance and Management from the Wharton Business School,
USA. Mr Labroo is the Managing Director & CEO of Asahi India Glass Limited (AIS), the
largest integrated glass company in India.
Dr .Colette Lewiner :
Dr Colette Lewiner is an Independent Director on the Board. He is a PhD in physics and has over
35 years of experience as a researcher, academician and as an industry expert in fossil fuel (oil
and gas), nuclear and renewable energies. Dr Lewiner is presently the Energy Advisor to the
Chairman and CEO of Capgemini.
Suresh Prabhu :
Suresh Prabhu is an Independent Director on the Board and also a Member of the Risk & Audit
Committee. He is a Chartered Accountant with a Degree in Law; and has also been conferred an
Honorary Doctorate by the International Forestry Resources and Institutions.
Meher Pudumjee :
Meher Pudumjee is an Independent Director on the Board. He holds a Master's Degree in
Chemical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science & Technology, London; and, is the
Chairperson of Thermax Ltd, a company focused in the business of providing solutions for
energy and environment management.

Dr. Valentin von Massow :
Dr von Massow is an Independent Director on the Board. He is an eminent professional and a
much sought after International Consultant, who for 19 years had been associated with The
Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which is amongst the most reputed Management Consulting
Firms in the world. During his tenure with BCG, he held various senior positions including that
of Managing Director for BCG, India, rising to Vice President and Director of BCG Inc.
