For Young Leaders Program, the recruitment will be conducted through the embassies
of Japan in target countries upon the recommendation of recommending authorities. Initial
selection will be made through document screening, interviewing, essay writing, etc..
The second selection will be done by YLP Committee set in MEXT, and hence the nal
decision on candidates.
(3) Recruiting, Arrival in Japan
The recruiting period will differ by country and region, although the following timing

1. Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students
JASSO offers Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students for international students who are accepted by a Japanese university, graduate school,
junior college, college of technology, specialized training college, university preparatory course designated by Monbukagakusho:MEXT, or Japanese language institution (hereinafter
refered to asschool(s)).
(1) Qualications and contents of scholarship
The qualications do not include the age limit, designated Japanese schools to attend nor designated courses to major in in Japan.

(2) How to apply
Applications for the Honors Scholarship will be accepted through schools ( ).
The applicants must ll in an application form (available at the school ofce in charge),
submit it to their schools ( ) to have them recommend to JASSO that they are qualied
to receive an Honors Scholarship ( ). The applicants must contact the schools to
conrm the application procedure.

(2) From application to notication of result
Applications for the scholarship will be accepted through Japanese schools. Direct
applications from higher educational institutions outside Japan or students will not be
accepted.
Japan Student Ser vices OrganizationJASSO, upon screening the application
documents submitted by Japanese schools will decide the adoption programs and notice
the results to Japanese schools.
The selection method of exchange students and closing date for accepting application of
students vary according to Japanese school or attending school. For further information
and inquiry, applicants are advised to ask each Japanese school or attending school.

(3) Time of arrival in Japan


Students must arrive at the Japanese school within the period designated by the Japanese
schoolfrom April 1, 2013 to March 15, 2014
