32 performed at our school assembly. We were honouring and thanking our beautiful Mums and Carers who do so much for us on a daily basis. We did some fantastic drawings to decorate the stage. We recited a poem called Our Precious Mums. We sang Mamma Mia, but we changed the words to suit our Mums. We all wore terrific costumes, organised by our Mums/Nans. It is forty ears since Abba sang their first song together, so it was special that we performed an Abba song this year.
In our classroom we have had lots of fun. At the end of last term, we had an Aussie party, to celebrate Australia. We have been learning about Australia and all the special flags, states, colours, places etc which make our country the special place it is. This term we are learning about Australian animals and their environment.
We celebrate a person in our classroom each week and they are the Personality of the Week! This week it is Leila Nixie Rose.
We continue with wonderful learning in Reading and Maths. Lots of our clever people have done really well in the Reading Recovery Programme with the amazing Mrs Castle and Mrs Brooks. Well done to those students!!
Come and visit our classroom any time to find out what we are doing. We would love it!

Some stories from our class: On the weekend I got two cows, a baby cow and a mamma, and the mamma cow is having a baby. On Friday I had an assembly. We sang a song called Mamma Mia and we said a poem called Our Precious Mums. At the assembly I talked on the microphone and I said We will begin with the National Anthem, School Song and School Creed. After assembly we had an afternoon tea. My favourite part was when we sang Mamma Mia. Angela Lanyon-Cook
I loved the assembly because we sang a song called Mamma Mia and I could not stop smiling. I was so proud. I love assemblies! We also did a poem and it was Our Precious Mums and after assembly we had an afternoon tea. My Mum came and I gave her a hug. Ella Smith

Dear Yakamia Primary School Families Re: Book fair 2014
The Read More in May Book Fair has arrived at our school.
All children are visiting the Book Fair and creating a Wish List of book titles and posters. They will be talking to their Mums and Dads about their Wish List. By supporting this event you are helping your child to browse, to make choices, and to select books to read and of course purchase.
For each purchase our school LIBRARY receives a commission this year the money raised is to be spent on new picture books and early reader nov- els.
We look forward to seeing you at the Yakamia Book Fair
