In order to create the best green house gas emission inventory possible for the park, it is necessary to standardize

the information that is gathered and input to the CLIP tool.


Needed Information/Files: To see full list of needed information, reference the document CLIP_DataNeeds_v2010.
Specific to Zion National Park you will need to contact or utilize the following Zion Data Sources for the following
information:

coolant type. Ensure annually updated.

Permitted Activities) were included
Click on Options, select Enable This Content.
To enter inventorying process, click
Prepare the Emission Inventory Module:
Step 1: Select Zion National Park
Step 2: Select the year to be inventoried
Step 3: Select all options; enter name of Lodge Concessionaire into Concessionaire box, enter either
Other or the names of other concessionaires into Other Concessionaires box.
Step 4: Select all options with the exception of forestry
Step 5: Do not estimate CAP emissions

Select Yes then select OK.

Park Employee Population
Get information from HR; two categories are needed 1) Full time/term employees and 2) seasonal. Request
standard query (Pay period 15-20).
o Peak Season: Enter quantity of all tenure level employees.
o Off-Peak Season: Enter total quantity of full time and term employees.

Visitor Population (30 year period)
Go to NPS Stats Website http://www.nature.nps.gov/stats/park.cfm.
From dropdown list, select Zion NP.
From the box titled Zion NP Reports select Annual Park Visitation (All Years). Click View Report.
Fill in any missing information in the CLIP tool with the corresponding information from the report.

Concessionaire information (employee populations)
Enter concessionaire population information. Lodge park unit should be separate while the park units Other
Permitted Activities and Other Concessionaire should be added together.

Select Park Operations
o Enter Fuel Use numbers for all applicable fuels. When finished click Save Results.
If year being inventoried had the used oil heater in the auto shop operational, enter 90
million BTUs

in the Other category.

o Carbon content - 44
o Fraction Oxidized 1%
o Heating Value 22%

This number is based on 400 pounds of oil being purchased, stored and burned in the automotive shop. The conversions used to estimate
BTUs are 7.3 lbs per gallon and 150,000 BTUs per gallon.

Repeat for Concessionaires (used oil heater entry is not applicable here).

o Enter Electricity Purchased from Primary Utility.
o Select Primary Utility by selecting the box and choosing from the appearing list

o A - For Highway Vehicles choose to estimate emissions by fuel consumption.
o B - Also, select estimates to include vehicles running on alternative fuels.

From F.A.S.T. report enter information for:
o Cars (F.A.S.T. Report equivalent is Section II: Agency Owned Vehicle Costs and Owned and
GSA Leased Vehicle Mileage>Total Miles/Kilometers Operated> Sedans and Station Wagons)
o Light Trucks and SUVs (F.A.S.T. Report equivalent is the sum of Ambulances and Trucks &
Truck Tractors by Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) 8,500 LBS/Kilos & Under (both 4X2
and 4X4)
o Heavy-Duty Vehicles (F.A.S.T. Report equivalent is a sum of all Trucks & Truck Tractors by
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) 8,501 LBS/Kilos and over
o Do not enter bus information.
