Assessment Criteria: Painting Scheme

Students should demonstrate:

Sound studio practices setting up
drawing board, mirror and paper.

An ability to paint from a primary
source.

An ability to experiment with mark
making creating a sense of depth.

An understanding of tone and texture.

Concentrated observation showing
close attention to light and dark on
the face.
Students should demonstrate:

The ability to display a variety of
viewpoints.

The ability to use interesting facial
expressions in relation to the costume
on the body.

An ability to use a variety of tones/
hues of a colour to create a sense of
depth.

An ability to use creativity choosing
costumes and objects to ware,
assembling an interesting portrait.
Students should demonstrate:

Develop painting skills and techniques
using acrylic paint

An ability to test technical approaches
Working with a variety of tools.

An ability to appraise and improve
painting working back into it layering
acrylic paint.

An ability to compose a variety of
paintings; visually striking and
interesting. Distinguishing the most
effective.
Students should demonstrate:
