Baha’u’llah’s Youth---Puppet Show fitting into a box--

Opening Prayers/Theme Prayer:

Prayer by Baha’u’llah:

TO BE RECITED ONCE IN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, AT NOON

I bear witness, O my God, that Thou hast created me to know Thee and to worship
Thee. I testify, at this moment, to my powerlessness and to Thy might, to my poverty
and to Thy wealth. There is none other God but Thee, the Help in Peril, the Self-
Subsisting.
(Compilations, Baha'i Prayers, p. 3)

Statement:
1. Baha’u’llah was once born and lived his life as a human being. He was a child,
but he was a very SPECIAL child.

Stories/Examples
2. He was not a restless baby. He was calm.. (page 1 from Stories of Baha’u’llah)
3. He was brave-He would stand up for justice( p2-3) He rode for 2 days to order
the dismissal of an unjust tax collector.)
4. He understood things that He read-much better than many adults-learned
people.. p. 4. He had INNATE knowledge. He knew things without being
taught.
5. Puppet show story---Baha’u’llah had a way of filtering out what was “fake-not
real” and was brave enough to “call them on it”—the puppets and all their glory
could fit into a box.

Quote:
Erelong these outward trappings, these heaped-up treasures, these earthly
vanities..this gorgeous finery..all shall pass into the confines of the grave, as
though into that box” p. 76 core curriculum Baha’u’llah

The Blessed Perfection, Baha’u’llah, belonged to the nobility of Persia. From

earlist childhood He was distinguished among His relatives and friends. They said,
“This child has extraordinary power.” In wisdome, intelligence and as a source of
new knowledge, He was advanced beyond His age and superior to His
surroundings. All who knew Him were astonished at His precocity. Abdu’l-Baha’

Example/Sensory:

1. Puppets. One lonely girl wants to play and is having a sad life, etc..
gets ignored.., but the other puppet wants to order a toy on the
computer. The toy breaks and he is upset, gets a new one and that
one breaks.. Finally, the boy sees the sad friend..and realizes it is
more worth his time to play with her.. The toys are left in the
garbage as the two children play together.
The toys are not real..like the puppets in the box-- can fit into a box (or garbage
can). Much of the “stuff of our lives-distractions” is also not important…what is
important is love and our journey torwards God..towards truth..and the kindness we
show one another, helping one another.. .This is a TRUTH that Baha’u’llah realized
when he was a youth…

Affirmation:

God wants us to know and love Him. Learning about Baha’u’llah is how we can know
and love God. I will learn about Baha’u’llah this year to grow closer to God. (What is
real is not what we own-our toys, etc.. What is real is our journey towards God and the
kindness we show towards other people)
