Oracle Web ADI

OracleWEB ADI- OracleWeb Application Desktop Integrator
Wed ADI automatically imports datainto your Web ADI spreadsheets fromtheOracleE-Business Suiteor fromatext file. Imported information can
bequickly modified in Excel, validated, and uploaded to theOracleE-Business Suite.
This featurecan beuseful when migrating datafromalegacy systemto theOracleE-Business Suite.
All datain thespreadsheet can bevalidated against OracleE-Business Suitebusiness rules beforeit is uploaded.
You can usethelayout functionality to determinewhat fields appear in your spreadsheet, wherethey appear, and if they contain default values. These
definitions can besaved, reused, and modified as needed.
Concepts
Integrator This is thedefinition that stores theinformation about theaction theuser wishes to perform. For example, downloading specific datato aspreadsheet
for viewing or to modify and upload back to thedatabase. For ADE sers, this equated to theStyle.
API Application Programming Interface. This is thepl/sql interfaceby which datais validated and uploaded into OracleHRMS. You would associatean api with
an integrator if it was intended to either createnew datain theapplication or updatedatathat had been previously downloaded. SeeOracleHRMS
Configuring,Reporting and SystemAdministration manual for alist of supported apis.
View A view is an object by which you can query dataon atableor tables. If theaction you areintending to performinvolves downloading data, you must
associateaview with theintegrator. If you areusing CreatestyleAPIs, you do not requireaview. You can elect to useaseeded view, for example,
PER_PEOPLE_V, to usewith your integrator. However, if theintegrator is for updating data, then it is recommended that you createyour own views and remember
to includetheOBJ ECT_VERSION_NUMBER, and any other In/Out parameters used by your chosen API.
Onething to bewareof is theuseof Aliases in views if you aredownloading fromaform. For example,if you usean alias for Applicant_Namecalled Starter, and
then usearestrictivequery in theformon Applicant Namebeforerunning theintegrator in Web ADI, you will get thefollowing error in theBNE log.
BneBaseSQL.executeBneQuery: Exception whilerunning query. Error Code: 904, Message: ORA-00904: "APPLICANT_NAME": invalid identifier
Thecolumn APPLICANT_NAME has been overwritten by thealias in thedefinition loaded into theBNE tables.
Layout This is wheretheuser selects thecolumns to bedisplayed in thespreadsheet or Word document fromtheAPI and/or View used by theintegrator. An
integrator can havemorethan onelayout defined for it. You can choosewhich oneto usewhen you createyour document.
Mapping themapping definition links thedatasourceto theapi columns. If no view is specified against theintegrator or no text fileused to load data, then no
mapping is needed. When thedatasourceis aview, themapping is created automatically, however if atext fileis being used then amapping needs to bemanually
defined to associateeach column in thefile(source) to therelevant api parameter (target). Seeexamplec) in section, A Step by Step Guideto Creating HRMS
Integrators.
Pre-req

category.
2.Select theDisableall macros except digitally signed macros option.
3.Select theTrust access to theVBA project object model option.
Set profileoption 'BNE Allow No Security Rule' to Yes at user level. Thedefault valueis No.
Add responsibilities 'Desktop Integration Manager', 'Desktop Integrator' to thecurrent user.
Debugging
You can get alog fileto help diagnosean error in Web ADI. Thefollowing profileoptions need to beset:
BNE: Server Log Filename: Usethis profileoption to changethenameof theWeb ADI log fileon themiddletier. If this profileoption is not set, bne.log is used.
BNE: Server Log Path: This profileoption can beused to set thedirectory for theWeb ADI log fileon theapplications server. If this profileoption is not set, then
theFND_TOP/log directory is used.
BNE: Server Log Level: This profileoption determines thelevel of detail that is recorded in theWeb ADI log file. Thevalid values arenoted below. Thelevel of
granularity and amount of information recorded to thelog fileincreases as you movedown thelist.
CRITICAL_ERROR: - Messages that aretheresult of asystemfailure. Theintegrity and reliability of thesystemis in doubt as aresult of this error.
ERROR: - Messages that aretheresult of an unexpected error in thesystem. It is possibleto recover fromtheseerrors; thesystemmay still bein a
usablestate. Setting theprofileoption to this valuewill includeCRITICAL_ERROR messages in thelog file.
WARNING: - Messages trapped by theapplication.Theseerrors werehandled by theapplication but thesystemadministrator should beawareof them
occurring. Setting theprofileoption to this valuewill includeERROR and CRITICAL_ERROR messages as well.
INFORMATION: - Additional messaging is added to thelog filethat includes processing information. Setting theprofileoption to this valueincludes
CRITICAL_ERROR, WARNING, and ERROR log messages. This is thesetting that is used by Web ADI if theprofileoption is not set at thesitelevel.
DETAIL: - Messages that summarizewhat is written to thelog file. Setting theprofileoption to this valueincludes CRITICAL_ERROR, WARNING,
ERROR, and INFORMATION log messages.
TRACE: - Messaging that generated detailed debugging statements. Setting theprofileoption to this valueincludes CRITICAL_ERROR, WARNING,
ERROR, INFORMATION and DETAIL log messages.
