The Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with Southern and East
Africa has recently embarked on its second phase (EEP S&EA II!
As a challenge fund" the Programme is seeking high#$uality applications for
pro%ects in the two regions that can contribute to the reduction of poverty by
promoting inclusive and %ob#creating green economy and by improving energy
security while mitigating global climate change!
EEP is %ointly funded by the &inistry for 'oreign Affairs of 'inland (lead
donor" the Austrian (evelopment Agency (A(A and the )* (epartment for
International (evelopment (('I( while the EEP +oordination ,ffice (E+, is
hosted by *P&- ,y Ab ('inland in .atfield" Pretoria" South Africa!
'or the +'P/" the scope is limited to pro%ects that deal with the development
phase of concrete renewable energy and energy saving0energy efficiency
pro%ects! The proposed pro%ect must be comprised of activities that are part of a
cycle that leads to further investment and commerciali1ation! The Eligible EEP
activities are pilot pro%ects" demonstration pro%ects and feasibility studies!
+'P/ applications are sought in two stages2 3 concept notes (current stage"
based on which successfully ranked applicants are invited to submit 4 full
pro%ect proposals!
+oncept note applications will be screened in terms of key criteria" including of
the following types2 a pro%ect or business idea b capability of the applicant(s
c development impacts and climate change mitigations d Scale#up0replication
potential and0or potential to mobili1e future investment and e financial leverage
(co#financing share!

The ma7imum grant allocation for a selected +'P/ pro%ect can fall in the
range ; 044 444 ' 944 444 depending on the level of verifiable pro%ect co#
financing brought in by the pro%ect!
