Company Info:
Rallis, a part of the Tata Group, is a
leading agrochemical company. It
manufactures a wide variety of
pesticides and also trades in seeds and
specialty fertilizers. The company has
a manufacturing infrastructure with
factories located at 5 locations. Rallis
has a distribution system with more
than 1500 distributors and 40000
dealers nationwide.

The company undertakes
manufacturing work on contract for
leading agrochemical majors. This
ensures that its plants works at higher
capacity utilization levels throughout
the year besides providing a
consistent cash flow. The company
also has surplus land of about 80
acres at Patancheru which is
currently valued at Rs. 2 crores in
books.

Rallis has ~45 products in its
portfolio. The company launches
almost 2-3 new products every year,
maintaining the sales contribution of
the new product in total sales to ~30%
on YoY basis. During FY10, company
has launched two new products
named Balwan and Ergon. Rallis is
expected to launch two new products
during FY11.

It has entered into strategic long term
alliances with research based MNC
agrochemical companies and
Japanese companies like FMC, Nihon
Nohyaku and companies such as
DuPont, Syngenta, Makhteshim
Chemical Works and Bayer, Borax
International for bringing in new
molecules and new formulation
technologies for commercialization in
India.

Plant locations:
Existing locations: The company has 6
units producing agrochemicals in
Maharashtra and Gujarat region.
Proposed Locations:
Jammu: New formulation unit
proposed
Dahej: Multipurpose technical
plant to be setup (is expected to
be commissioned by July 2010,
cost of the project is Rs 150 Crs).
Management has guided that the
Dahej plant has a revenue
potential of Rs 500 Crs over three
years and a payback period of
~6years. Rallis will enjoy tax
exemption for five years in the
Dahej plant which will support the
company to grow into the export
market (Asian and European
market targeted).
