2 DOOR LOCKING DEVICE INTRODUCTION We have created a solution to help fix the problem of ineffective door locking systems and the consquequences that follow on from this problem. Our solution is both a gadget and an app that can help minimise the risk of burgularies happening within our society. 3. BUSINESS SECTION 3.1 Vision To effectively provide an efficient and reliable home security gadget that prevents burgularies and keeps homes safe and secure. 3.2 Industry Analysis: Industry: Home Security Industry: Force: High/Low: Justification: Buyer power: High Buyer power is always high when there are a lot of options for the buyer to choose from. Therefore, as there are many similar products in the market, the buyer power is high. Supplier power: Low There are numerous suppliers that organisations in this industry could source raw materials, technology, equipment, and other services or products from to make the environmental product or service. Therefore, the supplier power is low.

3 Threat of new entrants: High The threat of new entrants is high because it is easy for new competitors to enter this particular market. Threat of substitutes: High The threat of subsitutes is high because there are many alternatives for this product/service. Many people may prefer using traditional locking systems. Rivalry among existing competitors: Low Rivalry among exisiting competitors is low as the competition is not fierce in the market. While there are threats of new enterants and many alternatives on the market, the competition is not very strong. Overall attractiveness of the industry: Overall, the attractiveness of this industry is moderately strong; thus indicating that this company increases competition more than it decreases it. 3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs The main target group of customers for our product/service would be general home owners. Our product would also target anxious people. The needs of our target groups are a home security system that effectively locks all of their doors and reduces the risk of their home, and their valuable items inside of it, being robbed. They want a gadget that decreases a bulk of keys needed to lock all of the doors in their house and that successfully saves them time when they are rushing for work early in the morning. Our target group also want a product that can allow them to feel at ease with themselves when they are away from home, trusting that their home is secure and that every door is locked.
4
4 3.4 The Product and Service Our product/service contains a mobile app and a gadget. The gadget uses chips which enables remote control of all the doors in the owners home. It also is able to send messages to the owner throught the use of the mobile app. This allows the owner to be notified if their house is broken into. The app also allows them access into their home security systems, such as the security camera, which provides them with photographic evidence of the perpetrator if their house is broken into. The app also corresponds with the police department, alerting them that the house has been broken into. Our product/service is also connected with other security systems in the house, including the alarm system as well as the security camera system. 3.5 Suppliers and Partners Apple and Google are considered to be suppliers for our product/service. This is because they are allowing our app to be sold on their store; google play and the apple store. They are supplying us with the internet space to advertise and market our product to our potential customers. Two partners for our product could be an alarm company and a house building company. Partners are the people with whom help you to produce your product and may get a small percentage of your profit. They provide you with their expertise, provide you with raw materials and you come to a economic and financial agreement together. An alarm company would be an ideal canditate for us to form a partnership with as they will provide us with installers and technicians who would put our system into houses. House building companies would also be ideal to form a partnership with as they would provide us with a subtractor for new houses and install our product into their clients homes. 3.6 Strategy: Broad Differenti ation Porter has three generic stratergies that he believes an organisation should follow when entering a new market. Our company will be using the broad differentiation stratergy. The competitive scope will be broad and the cost stratergy will be high.

This is the most important value chain for this business because it involves minimizing information technology costs, staying current with technological advances and maintaning technical intellegence. This value chain links to the vision because in order to produce an effective and realiable gadget to prevent burgualry, our business will need to be up to date with all technoligical advances and need to uphold all technical intellegence. This value chain also links to the businesses stratergies as if our organisation wants to remain using the broad differentiation stratergy, we must be able to stay ahead of our competitiors in regards to developing a product with technological advances. This activity will add the most value to our product/service. 3.8 Business Processes 3.8.1. DEVICE MONITORI NG PROCESS: THI S PROCESS INVOLVES THE COUNTER BEING SET AT COUNT OF 0. HOWEVER, I F THE COUNT I S HI GHER THAN 0 THAN A SI GNAL IS SENT TO THE APP ON THE CUSTOMERS PHONE AND AN ALERT IS SENT TO THE POLI CE. THI S PROCESS IS VI TAL AS I T ENSURES THAT THE HOME I S SECURE IN CASE OF A POTENTI AL BREAK IN.
