History of our school
When the first Kilton schools opened back in 1957, St. Augustine's
was a 5 to 11 priar! school. Within ten !ears, nubers of children
had risen so uch that a new school was built and the site was
separated into "nfant and #unior schools.
"n the id se$enties, %earing "paired &nits were established
at both schools, taking in children fro right across the 'orth
of the count!. "n 19() a uch needed nurser! was built and in
19(9, due to increasing nubers, a obile classroo was
erected at the #unior School. "n #anuar! 1995 both hearing
ipaired units closed and a new *riar! "ndi$idual 'eeds
+entre opened. ,he staff attached to the "ndi$idual 'eeds
+entre work in both schools supporting deaf pupils. -oth schools are carpeted to cut
down unnecessar! noise disturbing the deaf children. "n the school we ha$e
accoodation for )5. pupils.
We also ha$e a +hildren/s +entre on site. ,his building is attached
to the 'urser! building. ,his +entre offers da! care for children
fro .05 !ears fro ( a.. to 1 p.. all !ear round. ,here will

2uring the last few !ears, the heads, staff and
parents at both schools ha$e worked hard to return
to the ethos of a single school for all children fro
three to ele$en. 3ro 1 April 4.15, the two schools
