The year was 1995 and the word Crossover nobody
had heard of.

Turns we currently 20 years back, we end in 1990. It's actually not that
long ago. If you ever said to someone: - Now I sell Volvo 740 one and go
for such a crossover, so had no - absolutely no - though what you had
intended.
To say that someone was with something very scary. It turns out almost
always to be wrong ... But I dare me anyway on the assertion that the
Subaru Outback-one in the picture above was - if not the very first - so at
least the one that started what would become a trend and who seriously
got the snowball to start rolling.
Is this the first ever cross over?
Crossover
The term crossover was occurring. It was a car that suited spot for many of
us.
Namely, those who thought that such Gelndevagen or Pajero was a little
too much off-road and a little uncomfortable. And that also felt like a
regular station wagon had too many restrictions on traffic flow.
Subaru Outback is based on the
Legacy. It has the four-wheel drive as
standard, so the transformation was
basically quite simple.
Bigger wheels with powerful tires,
ground clearance, fender flares, off-
road styling and especially the
kjempevisuelle front bumper with large round fog lights in. Just that in itself
was so tough that it was reason enough to buy the car. Most Outback also
received two-tone paint.
That is quite simple steps. But we paid willingly a good deal extra for this -
and Subaru made good money on this model.
Often the cars were well equipped with air conditioning, automatic
transmission, pseudo-wood, leather interior, cruise control, etc. as well.

Engines:
As it has somehow become an unwritten law that such vehicles should
have diesel engines. Subaru was running late and did not come with a
diesel engine until well into the third generation of the Outback. So here is
the gasoline engine, as applicable. Either a four-cylinder boxer engine of
2.5 liters and 150 hp which is the most common.
But also a few cars with three-liter boxer six - with (almost) Porsche sound
- and all 204 hp found their way to Norway. But they were stone animal.
Subarus have never been known to be particularly fuel efficient (to put it
diplomatically), and both of these engines are quite thirsty. 3-liter is both
the funniest, trstest and dearest.
Transmission options are five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
They had / have a need to use the car off the road, chose manual
transmission, while those prioritized comfort went automaton.
Prices:
Many of the Outback cars have gone
far, but they stay still good in price
and are popular on the used market.
Half-poor and slightly seedy cars get
you from about 30 000 to 40 000.
Here you must expect both high miles. able and somewhat costly before
the next EU control.
For a decent car that is not sassy, you have to pay about 60 000 to 70
000, while for well equipped and really nice cars with full service history
and recent EU control have to pay about 100 000 and maybe more - if it is
2001 model or newer
What you need to check:
Subaru is technically very good cars, and Outback is no exception. And I'm
almost tempted to say that the newer the better.
Some of the older 2.5-liter engines were plagued with skirts bank, so listen
carefully rakling / banking from a cold start.
Timing belt swap is a small chapter in these boxes motors, so check that it
is reasonably fresh. Also check that there is no leakage of oil from the
camshaft simmringene (these are often replaced simultaneously with
register belt). Also check the water pump, it may leak.
Check that registerreimemis changed.
Check shock absorber rear, not that they are so bad, but because they
are expensive. Some cars have air suspension, this is both bad and
expensive. Also check the brake discs and spheres, joints and bushings in
the front suspension.

Meget bra biler dette! Solgte min 2000 mod i Mai. Den gikk for 130000,- (var strken). En ting
som burde vrt nevnt, er at bilene med automat ikke har permanent 4-hjulsdrift. Dette gjelder i
alle fall for 99-01 modellene. Systemet de bruker p disse er ikke veldig bra, da systemet er litt
tregt og kan sl inn litt hardt. Utover det er dette kanonbra bruksbiler!
