Howard County police are asking the public’s help in finding a man
wanted for a series of commercial burglaries that occurred earlier
this month at 16 area businesses. Police have a warrant for the arrest
of Nakym Jon Sheffield, 31, of 2318 Brooke Drive in Suitland.
Police were led to Sheffield after a security guard at one of the office buildings heard an alarm and began to
pursue a suspect on foot. The suspect left his vehicle in a garage at the business, which led police to identify
Sheffield. Based on other witness statements and evidence, police applied for charges against Sheffield.
He faces 16 counts each of second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary and fourth-degree burglary; three
counts of malicious destruction of property; 12 counts of theft; and four counts related to stealing and using
stolen credit cards.
He is described as a black male, 5 feet and 8 inches tall, 150 pounds with short, cropped black hair. Sheffield
is also wanted in several other jurisdictions for burglary, forgery and failure to appear. Additionally, he is
