-to provide Students with speaking practice exercises;
-to make Students understand the meaning of the text by answering questions;
b)Specific -to be able to understand and define the concept of the fable; -to enrich vocabulary connected with the text; -to stimulate conversation by having students to come up with examples of fables That they know;
2. Emotional:
-to make students express their ideas clearly, without restrictions/inhibitions regarding the questions asked;
-to encourage students to ask for explanations if they dont understand something;
Students possible problems/anticipated problems:
- Students might encounter problems with the pronunciation of certain words such as grasshopper, toil, necessity;
- Students might find it difficult to explain, in English, the meaning of words such as grasshopper, toil, nest; Possible solutions to them: - The teacher will pronounce the words aloud and clearly in order to make students understand the correct way of pronunciation;
- The teacher will let the students say the words in Romanian language, and then the teacher will explain the sense in English;
Types of interactions: T-Ss, S-T
Teaching techniques: -frontal (when using the cluster method with the word moral) -individual (when explaining something misunderstood by a certain student)
Materials: chalk, blackboard, texts, and notebooks;
Stage 3: Teaching
a) Context A fable entitled The Grasshopper and the Ant
b) Activity /Class organization
1. The teacher will choose 4 volunteers and they will read the story on paragraphs.
2. The students will answer these questions: Who are the two characters in the story? What does the Grasshopper do in the field? How do we call the hard work the Ant does? Where does the Ant store the food? What does the Grasshopper when the winter comes? What moral does he learn from this experience?
3. The whole class contributes with suggestions for the teacher to write on the blackboard as many possible words related to the word moral (the cluster method);
4. The teacher will give the students the following definition: A fable is a short narrative that usually ends in a moral or lesson.;
